London Maze 2003 - Local History Fair
Acclaimed TV historian Michael Wood will officially open The London Maze, the City of London's local history fair, when it takes place on Saturday October 11th 2003 at the Guildhall Art Gallery. Guildhall Library and Guildhall Art Gallery are hosting this fun and informative event devoted to London and its history.

Big Balloon Festival, Caerphilly
The first ever Big Balloon Festival will be taking place Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th August 2003 at the Blackwood Showfields in Cefn Forest, Blackwood, near Caerphilly, Wales.

National Trust Walks and Talks
The National Trust is offering a variety of guided walks and talks over the next several weeks. These offer a great way of getting out and about for some fresh air and exercise as well as the opportunity to learn something along the way. Some examples of the activities include a Dragon Fly Walk at Dudmaston in Shropshire, Travel through Time at Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire, The Jurassic Coast at the Golden Cap Estate in Dorset, Beetles and Weevils at The Bridestones in North Yorkshire, an Autumn Garden Walk at Belton House in Lincolnshire, a Beatrix Potter Walk at Hawkshead and Claife in Cumbria, an Evening Tour of Polesden Lacey in Surrey and a Walk to the Worm in the Gower, South Wales.

Castle Howard makes stately homes fun for Children
Stately homes are often perceived as stuffy and boring, and many parents think that they are not entertaining enough for children, and many children would agree! However, Castle Howard, near York, is addressing this misconception with a programme of exciting activities that will run daily throughout the school holidays from Saturday 19th July until Sunday 31st August 2003. This range of fourteen activities, which are included in the normal all-inclusive admission ticket price include historical and archaeological activities.

Tilbury Fort Elizabethan Festival
Tilbury Fort, in Essex, plays host to Queen Elizabeth I and her court as part of a series of spectacular Elizabethan Festivals from English Heritage marking the 400th anniversary of her death this year. The festival takes place on Saturday 20 - Sunday 21 September.

Ruislip Hosts Free Medieval Festival
Ruislip, in the Greater London Borough of Hillingdon, is the venue for a free medieval festival this coming August 16-17. The fun includes Knights in Combat, Woodcarving, Ladies of the Court, a Hog Roast,
and a Medieval Banquet.

Pendennis Castle Elizabethan Festival
Pendennis Castle, in Falmouth, Cornwall, plays host to Queen Elizabeth I and her court as part of a series of spectacular Elizabethan Festivals from English Heritage marking the 400th anniversary of the queen's death on Sunday 24 - Bank Holiday Monday 25 August.
