Monnington Lodge, Blackwood

Accommodation Description:
Monnington Lodge is a friendly country inn in Blackwood, near Newport. Originally a 16th Century Farmhouse, this quaint building located near the Brecon Beacons is brimming with country charm and a wonderful character, giving you a warm sense of welcome from the moment you arrive. Monnington Lodge began life back in the 16th Century as a farm built and owned by the family of the infamous Captain Henry Morgan and is set in its own grounds overlooking the small town of Blackwood - a short distance from beautiful woodland, and yet within easy reach of the cities of Newport, Cardiff and Bristol

Famed throughout the local area for its high quality food, first class service and relaxed atmosphere, you will be greeted by friendly, affable staff, finding a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere buzzing with the sound of social chatter. The rooms at Monnington Lodge are tastefully decorated in a simple style that pays homage to the prevalent country theme: warm, soft fabrics, welcoming wood features and gentle colour schemes create a sense of ambience that allows for a truly relaxing atmosphere. Although traditional in design the rooms feature modern comforts, such as satellite tv and wireless broadband internet, that really make your room feel like a home away from home

The Restaurant at Monnington Lodge is famed in the local area for its excellent food, friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. The menus are varied and cater for all tastes, from traditional English fares to Mediterranean cuisine and worldwide influences. With extensive wine lists for the perfect accompaniment, your meal at Monnington Lodge will be transformed into a pleasant dining experience

The bar area is the centrepiece of Monnington Lodge, resplendant in its country inn setting and offering a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. From the bar you can enjoy one of many Welsh beers as well as a selection of popular lagers, ales and an array of spirits, including a collection of over fifteen different scotch whiskies. There is also a satisfying selection of soft drinks as well as teas and coffee should you desire a non alcoholic beverage

The perfect location of Monnington Lodge means that however guests decide to spend their time, they can do it with ease. At half an hour to central Cardiff, and 40 minutes from Bristol the hotel is easily within reach of any activity of choice. The surrounding area lays host to an array of natural beauty like the awe-inspiring Brecon Beacons and places of historical interest, such as Cwmcarn Forest and Caerphilly Castle
