Aberdw - Crickhowell | Defynnog - Llangorse | Llanspyddid - Presteigne

Defynnog - St Cynog
At Defynnog on the A4067 near the A40. Locked. Built on the site of a Celtic church and part of the north wall, a window and font still survive. The church dates from the late 15th century.

Glascombe - St David
At Glascombe, nine miles west of Builth Wells on country roads. Open. Founded by St David as a centre of Celtic Christianity. The 13th century nave has two original doorways. The chancel dates from the 15th century. Part of the wagon ceiling remains.

Guilsfield - St Aelhaiarn
St Aelhaiarn On the B4392, Guilsfield, Powys. Well-preserved medieval church (listed building) of national architectural interest. A circular walled churchyard with outstanding examples of ancient managed yew trees is of particular interest.

Llanbadarn-y-Garreg - St Padarn
At Llanbadarn-y-Garreg, on minor road off B4567 at Aberedew. Contact vicarage for key. White church, considered 13th or 14th century with 17th and 18th century altar rails, wooden windows, and pulpit.

Llanddew - St David
At Llanddew just north of Brecon. Open. Built on the site of a Celtic Christian community, the 12th century cruciform church contains 13th century lancet windows and transepts and a 17th century tower. The church was restored in the early 20th century.

Llandefaelog - St Maelog
At Llandefaelog, north of Brecon off B4520 on minor road. The 17th century church has a 15th-16th century tower with 19th century reredos, marble arcading, carved choir stalls, 13th century font, 16th century monuments, and 10th century cross slab.

Llandeilo Graban - St Teilo
At Llandeilo Graban, minor road off B4594 near Erwood. Open. 14th century nave and font, 17th century altar rails.

Llanelieu - St Ellyw
At Llanelieu, on narrow road past Talgarth Church, village of Talgarth. Locked, key available, check church porch. 13th century church with remains of 14th century rood screen and loft, painted timber screen, and traces of medieval wall paintings. West wall has 7th-9th century pillar stones.

Llanelwedd - St Matthew
At Llanelwedd, on outskirts of Builth Wells, A483. Open. 14th century tower, carved chancel screen with winged angels.

Llanfilo - St Bilo
At Llanfilo, near the A438, Brecon. Locked, key details on porch notice board. Well preserved Norman and medieval church. Rood screen, stone slab altars, 15th century bell and 18th century memorials, and pre Norman font.

Llanidloes - St Idloes
At Llanidloes, Montgomeryshire, Powys, on the A470. 14th century squat tower. The interior has an Early English nave arcade and an outstanding hammerbeam roof.

Llanigon - St Eigon
At Llanigon, 3 miles southeast of Hay-on-Wye. Open daylight hours. 15th-17th century church with some Norman remains and 14th century south porch with upper storey, Norman font, and 17th century altar rails.

Llangorse - St Paulinus
At Llangorse, on B4560. Locked, list of keyholders by main door. 1300 font, 15th century church and barrel roof, early Tudor doors and windows; some mid 19th century refurbishment. The church contains many features of interest.
