Our neo-gothic style building on Rhosddu Road has a long history.
It was designed by a local Wrexham architect, James Reynolds Gummow, built as a private residence in 1865 and named Abbotsfield?
Gummow was responsible for many of the Victorian villas in the area.
At some stage it became the Denbighshire and Clwyd Area Education Office.
During the war years, one wing was given over to The Abbotsfield Priory War Nursery In 1982 it opened as a hotel, retaining both the Abbotsfield Priory name and many of the features from the original building.
It also had a spell as the Graffiti Italiano before its current transformation by new owners into The Lemon Tree.
Staying at the Lemon Tree is an excellent way to enjoy our cuisine... We have ten comfortable bedrooms at very competitive rates.Each room is en-suite and has a television.

Flexibility, or as they say in Italy, siamo flessibile is the key when it comes to our menus.
You can pop in for a tasty pizza or a bowl of delicious pasta or you can linger over a full-blown Italian extravaganza.
Parties are welcome with menus selected to suit. There are exciting sounding Mare e Monti and Quattro Stagioni pizzas, and plenty of choice for pasta lovers, including Gnocchi or house speciality Risotto al Funghi.
Main meals start with an eye-catching range of cured meats, cheeses, olives, aubergines and artichoke hearts. king prawns sauteed with garlic and white wine are a favourite, as is Tuscan bean soup. Main courses can be a simple meat dish or country casserole, an exotic fish mixture or a typical rich flavoured steak with balsamic roasted red onion and Dolcelatte cheese whilst a wide range of vegetable and cheese dishes make the menus eminently accessible for those wanting a vegetarian option.
Sweets are always an Italian love and Carmine's menus include classic Tiramisu (with sponge biscuits soaked in Amaretto) and Crostata di Cioccolata (the dark chocolate tartlet with sweetened mascarpone cream).

Directions
From the A483, take the Wrexham / Mold exit. At the 1st roundabout take the 2nd exit passing Wrexham Football Ground on your left. Continue on this road until the 1st set of traffic lights. Turn left into Grosvenor Road. At the mini roundabout turn left into Rhosddu Road. You will see The Lemon Tree on the corner.
