The parish church of Kidwelly began as a priory church serving a 12th-century Benedictine monastery. An excellent example of Decorated Gothic architecture, with a triple sedilia and richly carved piscina, medieval effigies in the south transept, and a 14th-century alabaster statue of the Madonna and Child that attracted pilgrims to Kidwelly.

The parish church of Laugharne is a large cruciform building with a huge square tower supported by pointed arches. It has been a place of worship since Norman time, and it was restored in the 15th century and again in 1873. Within the church is a Celtic cross-slab, painted nave ceiling, brass chandelier, and many memorials. The church also owns a 15th century Italian brocade cope, though this is not on display.

Not much is known about the life of St Padarn; he was born in 6th century Wales around the same time as St David, though he never achieved the same popularity. He lived in the south and south-west of the country and is best known for founding a monastery here at Llanbadarn Fawr, just outside the sprawl of modern Aberystwyth.

St Michael's church is a 19th century restoration of a medieval building. Near the lych gate is an ancient holy well and a gnarled yew tree stands in the churchyard. Carbon dating has revealed that the yew is about 2000 years old.

Holy Trinity church in Pontargothi was built in 1865 of local sandstone with a Gothic style bell tower. Highlights include excellent stained glass windows, a wooden barrel vault nave, and a series of 25 frescoes decorating the interior.
