Kington is a small town close to the Welsh borders on the western side of Offa’s Dyke.

Border View is a barn conversion that enjoys lovely views of the valley and hills beyond, just two miles from Kington. This semi-detached holiday home adjoins the owners home which occupies an enviable position on the tree filled slopes of Bradnor Hill, on a 10-acre small holding. The cottage offers accommodation that is ideal for couples enjoying a romantic break or families looking for an enjoyable holiday packed with activities. There are two bedrooms, and an open plan living area on the ground floor with a fitted kitchen and dining and seating areas. Border View has some charming character features such as exposed beams, and outside there is a spacious patio area with a garden, a relaxing place to kick off your shoes after a long day’s sightseeing.

Good walking
This cottage is for four, it's very small. Four would struggle, the double bed is next to the wall making it difficult to get in and out. It really needs rethinking as to where the furniture is, the single bedded room is bigger. If you are taller than 6 feet you would struggle in the tiny shower room. The shower cubicle is tiny, the sink is miniscule and low, as is the sink upstairs. If you bend down to wash your face you have to bend from your knees making your back ache. Also you bang your bottom on the door frame and your head on the tiny shelf in the downstairs shower room. Having said all this the owners are friendly and the walks are good. I would say as well that there should be some instructions in a visitor guide, I have never been anywhere where there isn't a list for doctors, dentists, hospitals etc.

Good location for walking and sightseeing
The house is small for four adults but cosy. The views from the bedrooms are lovely but being behind the owner's house it feels a bit overlooked. The double bed is pushed against the wall leaving a slipway to close curtains and barely room to walk. By contrast the twin is large, airy with plenty of space and enough space to unpack. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped. Welcome pack. Soap in the bathrooms would be a great help. Though the owners are friendly they are not intrusive. Lovely area for walking, sightseeing and the village of Kington is quaint.

Having a toilet upstairs and downstairs was good and the whole property was spotlessly clean. Easy parking with plenty of space.

Pleasant cottage
The cottage is not very private - it is behind the owner's house (about 20 feet away) and overlooked. There is no large patio area to rear of the house - it is occupied by the owner's caravan; this appears to have been the case for months. Consequently, there is no private area to sit out and not be observed. We were told we could use the owner's garden but this is not he same when you want to relax. Fortunately, we were out most of the time but it would have been nice to have a private area. The noise from the traffic on the main road is quite loud and can be heard from about 06:00 until 22:00. I was hoping for dark skies in this fairly remote area but there is a street light between the owner's house and cottage (about 10 feet away) and this shines all night!

Helpful owners on site; plenty of hot water and excellent standard of cleanliness!
