Sleeping eight people in four bedrooms, this detached chapel conversion in a rural location less than 8 miles from Harlech makes a perfect peaceful Welsh holiday base.
Hen Gapel is a former chapel, now fully converted to offer a comfortable holiday home in the scattered rural hamlet of Llandecwyn, just over 7 miles from Harlech. Outside, there is off road parking for 4 cars, and a rear and side lawned garden with furniture, BBQ and mountain views. With fishing available in the owners' 7 acre lake, and walking and cycling from the door, Hen Gapel is a wonderful Welsh retreat to relax and recharge.

We enjoyed a fantastic family holiday here with our Sons, their girlfriends and our dog. The house had everything we needed and there was plenty of room to spread out. The views were stunning. We enjoyed plenty of walks from the doorstep, climbed snowdon , 'bounced below' and swam in the lake. The week went too quickly! We loved it here.

Secluded, beautiful, peaceful cottage
We loved it here, really didn't want to leave! The road to the cottage is a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but you soon get used to it. Beautiful and quirky cottage, everything you need for your stay, the area is magical, you can walk for miles! And the cottage has its own lake!! We are open water swimmers so it was perfect for us, clear water with the most amazing view, what more can you ask for.

Our little piece of heaven
Hen Gapel was our very own slice of heaven for 7 wonderful days. The road may be long and windy (approx 15 minutes) from the main road but its certainly worth it for the benefit of the location.
If remoteness is your wish, you couldn?t find a better place to be.
We had a family holiday, 6 adults and 1 teen in total.
The cottage was exceptional. It had everything we needed and more. The pool table was invaluable with all ages keen to have a game. Plenty of room if you needed your own space as well. We enjoyed the kitchen / dining room the most, all open plan and all meals and board games, conversations seemed to be based here.
The log fire was used once or twice to take any chill away from the rooms, truly mesmerising when you have a rainy day.
Harlech and it's beach are 25 minutes away. The nearest shop we found was a Spar in Harlech so be sure to get everything you need on your daily trip. We did pre-order a Tesco delivery for the evening we arrived, which was perfect.
The cottage is situated in a beautiful location. Quiet, safe and plenty of opportunities to walk over the hill to the lake or along the country lane.
Once you've done the drive from the main road a couple of times it becomes so much easier, even pleasurable. The only traffic you find is the local farmer who always makes way for you to pass.
Pat and the owner Jane we're so helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
Having a BBQ, drinking cold beer, watching hawks flying overhead, sharing a meal with 3 generations, clear skies at night, sunny day at the beach with the family (including the dog), it's what life's all about and I honestly can?t recommend this place enough. Genuinely sad to leave and still think about it now.

Perfect family holiday for different ages and abilities.
We have just returned from a week at this beautiful, peaceful home. There were 7 of us, ranging from 18 to 70 years plus my brother who has Downs Syndrome. There was so much space, brother and daughters were very happy in the upstairs lounge with their Xbox and playing pool, in-laws favoured the sunny conservatory and we all gathered round the large kitchen table to play games.
We had a Tesco delivery ordered for our first night which was so helpful given the remote location.
If you want to get away from it all and really relax this place is ideal.
My husband caught 6 brown trout from the lake so he was in heaven and he also played a round of golf at the nearby Royal St Davids.
The house is equipped well and Jane is great. We are hoping to return in the near future.

Fabulous get away from it all
Great cottage for a group of friends. The different living areas meant that we could all do different things ( living room became the reading room upstairs the games room) without being on top of each other. Some great walks direct from the cottage so didn't have to go far if we didn't want to but we also had a fabulous walk on the beach at Harlech and then up to some slate mines. Even though we went in April we had one gorgeous evening where we could sit out and have G&T's before dinner. The garden was lovely and my early morning walk down to the lake with my dog was just wonderful. Didn't want to leave.
