Ideal location for an escape to the Peaks..... I've passed through Derbyshire many times, I've stopped here once overnight decades ago. I've marvelled at the beauty of the place, the stone buildings the green, undulating, occasionally rugged landscape. And the space.....vast green space. And I've kept telling myself I'll stay for longer. It was important to me that we stayed somewhere fitting of my overall perception of the place.
"The loft" is one of number of properties that have been converted on a part-retired farm at Cowdale Hall near Buxton. Location and access Is straightforward, I was told by the owner that GPS would get me right to the gate and it did. He'd also said that the place would be ready with the key in the door, early afternoon, it was. And in walking through the low door it was all we expected it to be. The property was clean, fully equipped and already warming with wall convector heaters. The kitchen was basic but with electric cooker, fridge, microwave and all the pots, pans, utensils you'd need along with a good sized breakfast bar. You're greeted by a huge leather velour sofa which faces a flat screen tv with DVD player built in. A shelf of DVD's to watch and books to read. There's a small double bedroom with wardrobes and dressing table and a small shower room with toilet. We met the owner whilst unloading the car, a friendly bloke who showed us around and told us of a local walk around the farm. We've stayed for three nights, dedicating one day, New Years Eve, to shaking off a few Christmas Kilos, hiking from nearby Edale part along the Pennine Way on a route covering Grinds Brook and Ringing Roger, it was windy, and rocky and stunningly beautiful. And today, we've spent recovering.....in the loft........ I thoroughly recommend it. :-) Vanchappers 2017-01-01
The location and general access to and from the property via road was excellent and with ease onto the main roads. It is a short distance from Buxton which made it easy to get shopping or petrol. The property was excellent and the owners were respectful of my privacy, but were there if needed. This was one of the best holidays I've had in 13 years. Mr Quinnell 2016-05-15

We thought the cottage was warm, comfortable and well equipped. It was excellent value for money and I would certainly recommend it. Mrs Fleming 2015-10-05
The location was great - handy to everywhere in the Peak District, in a pleasant rural setting but only 5 minutes drive to Buxton. The facilities were excellent in an interesting barn conversion. We loved our stay. Mrs Robb 2015-08-06
