A lovely stone-built period cottage, attached to the owners' house, situated in a wonderfully peaceful rural location at the head of Danby Dale, 2.5 miles from the village of Castleton. With glorious views over the surrounding countryside from its elevated position, this charming upside down cottage is decorated and furnished to a very high standard, and offers a warm and welcoming base from which to explore the local area, either by foot or by car. The property has a spacious first floor sitting room with flame-effect fire and spectacular views into the valley head. There is a well-equipped kitchen with separate dining area, and a lovely lawned garden, ideal for sitting out and relaxing. A haven for walkers and cyclists, the surrounding countryside offers countless footpaths, bridleways and cycle trails, some of which can be accessed from the cottage door. This delightful property with its peaceful location, and its proximity to both coast and countryside, provides an ideal base for an enjoyable and relaxing break.

Quiet cottage location Beautiful walks on the doorstep with plenty of area to cover. Ideal when dogs are in tow. Great place to relax and chill out on holiday, just go at your own pace. John and Jenny are very welcoming and friendly. Ideal break to get away from everyday hustle and bustle. Little chilly this time of year and was expected (I love this time of year) and the cottage was warm and comforting. Blissfully quiet. Super week!

A charming cottage in a wonderful location
We returned today from St. Helena cottage and, to be honest, hated to leave! The cottage is absolutely lovely and the owners John and Jenny are very friendly without being intrusive. The location is perfect, nestled in the glorious North Yorkshire Moors with the moors literally on your doorstep! The views are breathtaking! The cottage is very dog friendly, warm, cosy, clean and has absolutely everything you could need. The surrounding area is stunning and is perfect for long walks. It is conveniently located within a few miles of a village with shops, a post office, a tea room and pubs and not too far across the moors from larger towns Whitby and Pickering. We really can't praise St. Helena Cottage enough and would recommend it to everyone!

In a stunning peaceful location. A comfortable and clean cottage which was very well equipped and very much a home from home. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners. We go to the North York Moors every year and would happily recommend this cottage.
