Last minute break
We needed a get away and managed to get this cottage at short notice. The cottage is large with very traditional features, good sized bedrooms. The beds were warm and comfy and a bonus each room had an en-suite. The kitchen was well equipped, with everything you need for a break away, I personally have no intention of running master chef when I?m on holiday. There was also a nice welcome pack on arrival. The parking was ample for 1 car and you can get 2 on, if you go onto the lawned area at the front. It?s a shame the house doesn?t have a larger garden, there is as another review mentioned an unkept area to the rear of the property, visible from 2 bathroom windows only, upon further investigation this belongs to the farmer behind, I guess that?s part of the parcel of living in this lovely rural area. Good location, close to pubs and 2 miles from beach. If you want a rustic, lived in, holiday home, this one is for you, however a town new build it is not.

very very disappointing
We arrived expecting what the property had been advertised as..........what a disappointment ! ! ! An extremely dingy and quite frankly tired cottage in dire need of an update, soft furnishing, old, and water stained curtains . 2 of the light bulbs out in kitchen, making it very dark. The carpets could either do with a good clean or renewing throughout. The ONLY positive thing i could say was, that the beds were comfortable. Don't be deceived by the photos, it is not a true reflection of the property AT ALL !

Extremely disappointed!
We have just visited this cottage for our Easter break and I have to agree 100% with Pippa W. The property is very tired. Every room showing signs of leaks and damp, curtains and blinds in some areas stained and worn out, dirty on arrival with thick dust and cobwebs, oil tank for central heating and water right at the front of the property next to the kitchen door which stunk in the kitchen. If you look from the rear window of the upstairs rooms you can see a small strip of land which belongs to the property which is just full of junk and looks like a dumping ground. Not what you expect to see when on holiday. Sykes cottages need to revisit the property and see its current condition as the photos on their website are NOT a true reflection of the property. The property requires a full overhaul/ redecoration and a deep clean to make it of an acceptable standard to rent to holiday makers! On a more positive note the beds are comfy and the level of equipment for a holiday let is relatively good. I wouldn?t recommend this property to anyone as I have stayed in much better properties in far nicer locations. We had booked for a week but returned home after only 3 days.

Perfect
Stayed in the village before in another cottage. This was is bigger and has everything needed for our stay. We don't cook while we are on holiday, so just breakfasts and a sandwich or similar at tea time, but there is everything here. Clean, bright, tidy. the only negative - and this is not a complaint, there could be more towels available, and some shelving in the bathrooms and shower cubicles. Nice touch - milk in fridge on arrival, biscuits and a vase of fresh flowers. Lovely base to lounge in at the start of a lie in day or at the end of the day. Fish & Chip shop opposite (!) and 2 pubs, one on either side - perfect. Very nice owner who obliged the very next day when a loo set broke on one side of hinges, with a new one. Thank you. Would certainly come back.

Would not recommend
Totally agree with previous review. Good location but busy road, no garden except scruffy piece of grass next to parking area. Oil tank right outside back door, not shown in photo, very unattractive. Cottage needs updating and cleaning, including carpets. Kitchen reasonably well stocked with utensils but again, lots dirty, especially glasses. Number of lights not working, husband ended up mending after purchasing pliers, fuses and bulbs. Cottage dark so need as much lighting as possible. Disappointing and would suggest that Sykes review their description and photos shown online.
