This detached cottage in Oughtershaw near Buckden sleeps four people in two bedrooms.

The Reading Rooms in Oughtershaw is a detached riverside cottage in the heart of the National Park. The cottage has a mezzanine reading area on the first floor but everything else is at ground floor level - there are two king-size double bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with woodburning stove. Outside is off road parking for two cars, and a riverside garden with furniture and BBQ.

The Reading Rooms offers good walking from the doorstep, including along the Dales Way, which passes through Oughtershaw, making this an ideal base for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire.

The setting of The Reading Rooms is stunning. Even the neighbours were lovely and very friendly. It is such a lovely place to stay.

Very quiet, great walking country
One or two slight disappointments to begin with. Overall the cottage was quite basic, the furniture and fittings a little tired, and the bed was not comfortable. In fact, it was the most uncomfortable bed I can remember sleeping on, with a soft old mattress which probably needs to be replaced. However, the cottage is located a long way from ?civilisation?, in attractive surroundings, on a very quiet road. And there are some very enjoyable walks nearby, a couple right from the door. The general area is beautiful. The cottage has all the basic amenities, with wifi, good fridge, separate freezer, freesat TV. The garden is next to the stream and it is pleasant to sit there watching the wildlife, although the views more generally from the cottage are quite limited. Overall we enjoyed our week's stay.

The property itself was fantastic (no complaints whatsoever) and we very much enjoyed staying there and want to book The Reading Rooms for the same time next year. It was particularly nice to return to each evening and in a very quiet location.

The Reading Rooms is the perfect place to get away from it all. It is spacious, clean and comfortable with a large, fully enclosed garden and huge parking area. There are great walks and views, right from the door in all directions, and 3 dog friendly pubs serving good food all within 6 miles.

Fantastic cottage with everything you could need in a beautiful quiet setting.
