This charming barn conversion is set 0.25 miles from the village of Arkholme and sleeps two people in one bedroom.

Howard's Barn is a stone-built barn conversion situated 0.25 miles from Arkholme village and six miles from Kirkby Lonsdale. This cottage is set mostly over the first floor and offers a ground floor entrance hallway with cloakroom with basin and WC, a first floor bedroom with en-suite shower room and an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside there is ample off road parking, shared use of a lawned garden with furniture and a front sitting area in a courtyard. Howard's Barn is an ideal retreat for walkers, cyclists, or those that wish to explore the towns of Kirkby Lonsdale and Kendal.

We stayed here for a week and found it a very comfortable, cosy and warm cottage, with all accommodation on the first-floor. A haven to return to after walking on the nearby Howgills. A warm, friendly welcome from the owner. Clean, very well-equipped, and ideal for a romantic get-away. Even the heavy rain and gales didn't spoil our holiday! Would definitely return.

Cosy, comfortable, warm & well-equipped - great location
We stayed here for a week (of very wet and windy weather!) and found it a very comfortable, cosy and warm cottage, with all accommodation on first-floor. A haven to return to after walking on the nearby Howgills, with easy access to the beautiful Lune Valley (flooded during our time, but that's an unusual occurrence) and also to the Lake District and Morecambe Bay. A warm, friendly welcome from Tony, and a good supply of all the essentials, including some lovely shower gel and shampoo. Clean, very well-equipped, and ideal for a romantic get-away. Even the heavy rain and gales didn't spoil our holiday! Would definitely return.

A peaceful and comfortable haven
Howard's Barn (HB) is well situated being just a few minutes' stroll from the village of Arkenholme and easily accessible from the M6. On arrival, I was met by Toni who explained and showed me where everything was. HB provided everything I needed (including hi-speed wifi) and most importantly was quiet and comfortable. I stayed at HB for 4 weeks while working locally but enjoyed lovely weekend walks in the surrounding countryside. I would definitely stay here again.

The Barn and the views from it were outstanding, couldn't fault it, everything was perfect. Definitely go back again and would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent comfortable place to stay for a quiet retreat with great views
I stayed here while visiting relatives nearby, so primarily needed a bed and somewhere to relax in the evenings, rather than a home from home. However this is a very well-presented holiday home, very comfortable, with everything anyone could possibly need, including Freesat TV, a DVD player, and WiFi. There is even a small torch attached to the key ring, useful as street-lighting is not something found here! It is well-situated in a quiet area, but is a short drive from the M6 and within easy reach of many popular tourist spots including the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and even Blackpool! The owners are unfailingly helpful and very willing to suggest places to visit and things to do, and there is a useful supply of local information in the property, including maps and guidebooks. As it is a small one-bed flat it is really only suitable for couples or singles, and its first floor position might make it unsuitable for people who have any mobility difficulties, especially as there is also a small internal staircase between the bedroom and the rest of the accommodation (including the bathroom). But this is a small disadvantage in what is really a most excellent property to which I will certainly return!
