Very comfortable and well equipped accommodation ideal for exploring the area and with good views from the kitchen and bedroom. There were good restaurants and shops very close by.

The best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in.

The best rental we have stayed in
Gayle Gallery Cottage. Best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in. (We are in our late 50s and have spent many years staying in multi various accommodation with and without young children of ours, and with their offspring) After a difficult year+ tending to the generation above, we were looking for an escape destination for Christmas. The first Christmas we would not be hosts for 37 years. Friends recommended Hawes as The place to go. The choice of accommodation in the village is numerous, and the facilities wide and various, so:- Although there was only the two of us, and after looking at smaller accommodation in Hawes, we decided to opt for something a little more ?roomy?, and Gayle cottage seemed to ?fit the bill?, plus the fact that the only real alternative could not meet our exact dates without shortening our holiday by a day. I believe this was to our advantage!. My Wife and I stayed in the cottage over Christmas 2014 (22 Dec to 29Dec). The cottage was Huge for the two of us, but we had expected that, We knew about the stairs up to the living space, and that the bedrooms were 1 more floor above, (we live in a bungalow), but we thought ? what the hell! We could do with the exercise anyway. I am so pleased we did pick this cottage. The ground floor entrance is spacious and heated, Which I assume for walkers etc., is a big bonus for drying out the outdoor clothing after a walk, and a bonus for us in the winter weather conditions of our stay. The 1st floor of the cottage contains a huge living/dining room with a 6 place dining table, two large sofas as comfortable as you would wish for, with loads of big plump cushions, and TV, WiFi, DVD,CD, basically every electronic gizmo you could want ? OK, no Sky, but you are in the middle of nowhere, what can you expect ? well ? full BT TV package, that's what. If you wanted to stay in the cottage all day, or were forced by the weather to do so, there is nothing you could want for to alleviate the boredom. Dominoes/cards/board games/DVDs etc, etc, etc,. plus too many extras to note in a now very long review. Kitchen ? The highlight of the accommodation ? literally, there is everything you would need. I do all the cooking at home and have every gizmo there is, but I still found myself saying ? ?I?ll have to get one of these??? Crockery, pans, microwave, dishwasher, hob, oven, kettle, All the best quality, and all in working order. The range of crockery and cookware is unbelievable, and the nice little touches to welcome you to the property are awesome. Upstairs ? Master bedroom ? Massive, looking over the back of the property, with big wardrobe, Sofa, and TV (we never tested this),. The bed is big and comfortable in the extreme. Twin bedroom ? Of no use to us except as a place for us to keep our cases and dirty washing as it was generated. Easily useable for a larger occupancy, and front aspect. Single bedroom ? big enough (just), but would not be a problem for a mixture of adults and children, not ideal for 5 adults, unless willing to bear it. Bathroom ? Absolutely brilliant for our stay, but would be a bit busy for 5 adults. The linen and toiletries provided were without exception excellent. The shower is a little bit tight for the larger framed (us) but not a show stopper. In summary ? as stated before, this is the best accommodation we have stayed in. On top of this, the owners are absolutely brilliant, on Christmas day after we had been for lunch in the Crown Hotel (also exceptional) when we came back to the cottage, there was no power ? I phoned Lyndsey, and her and her husband were there within 20 minutes. When all come to all, the problem was a fire in a transformer down the street which was sorted by 21:00, but the fact that the owners cared enough to turn up on Christmas day speaks volumes as to their care for the people renting the accommodation. Apologies for taking so long to post a review, the fact is, this accommodation is so good, I could not take the review lightly, and had to think hard about it. We will be back Rob
