Wasps
Arrived...Fri 3pm a wasp roaming the interior...hey some one left a window open! No prob. Fri 9pm another wasp in the bedroom...must have been two that got in...No prob. Sat. 7am...buzzing heard...into the en-suite I go...four wasps flying around and observed them entering and leaving through a tiny hole in the ceiling.
What is the procedure I wonder for dealing with this...I know contact SykesCottages...they were super helpful and arranged another cottage holiday to our convienience at their cost. By the end of the day when we re-located...we had learnt that the on-site owner, his house is next door, was aware weeks previous already and still letting out the cottage! Also he never came around to see us that day...he was in his house the whole time and avoided us!
Additional observations...zero cellphone reception.
Cottage is clean and modernised and parking is very tight in the yard.

Nice little cottage, well placed for touring the area. Nice little garden with a beautiful view. Everything in working order but above all a very helpful and friendly owner.

The welcome from the owner, the large field for our dog to run around in and the small rear garden were lovely. The Tiger Inn which is next door provides excellent home-made food/real ale. Particularly enjoyed visit to Chatsworth and the Tram Museum.

The accommodation and location were beautiful, 10/10. Very relaxing. It had a lovely paddock for my dog to run around. Would definitely recommend it to family and friends and would go back again.

Not a relaxing place
We have stayed in many places and this is the first time we have felt we must write a review. The cottage is clean and reasonably well equipped. The views from the patio (accessed via the en suite!) are great, and we had some warm sunny days but still decided to come home two days early.
The reasons: -
There are notes on the walls in black and red biro, some in BLOCK CAPITALS and heavily underlined laying down the rules of the cottage about dogs, rubbish, recycling etc. When we left our dog asleep to walk to the village for some food we were pursued by the owners to be told we could not do this. (The dog is 14 years old and sleeps all evening at home-He sleeps even more heavily after a days walking)
The walk to the pub is only short but there are hedges right up against the road and nowhere safe to get away from the traffic on the busy A517. The noise from the plumbing in the next cottage is horrendously loud and, unfortunately, the people staying there took showers at 6:30am one morning.
