Manor Lodge Guesthouse is situated on the B3247 road in to Millbrook village, in the valley of the Rame Penninsula on the most North eastern part of Cornwall. King Charles stayed here when he was hiding from the Roundheads. The courthouse was held here once a month.
It was used as a working farm, with the creamery indoors and chickens being despatched. An 800 year old Grade 1 listed building with lots of character to it. Millbrook is the largest village in England.
With nearly 4000 residents,it is quite unspoilt, but with all the amenities: pubs, a football club, an Indian restaurant soon to open, Post Office and petrol station, and Co-op and Spa shop and a lovely wholefood cafe at the back of Widdecombes fruit and vege shop. Popular with bird watchers as well as miniature boats on Millbrook lake,and also great for families. Just over the hill one way is 850 acres of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park and also the Cremyll passenger ferry to Plymough city.
Over another hill is the historic fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand. Then there is Whitsand Bay and the gateway to the rest of Cornwall, with Lands End about 90 minutes drive. Manor Lodge is divided into two, with the owners accomodation at the back and the guesthouse in the front.
When not booked for holidays, we use the house on a bed and breakfast basis. Manor Lodge was established, fully refurbished in 2008 and traditionally decorated. We do weekly maintainance checks and update accordingly.
Comfortably fitting up to 6 people with up to two dogs welcome. Children can have the use of the fold out beds. A travel cot is available.
Each of the 3 bedrooms has its own ensuite bathroom, with power showers and unique shaving points. The biggest bedroom also doubles as a family room and can take 2 fold out beds for children. Kingsize double bed.
The standard double has a Indian Teak double bed and can fit a travel cot in the room. Lastly, the third room has twin single beds, which can comfortably fit 2 adults. Towels and linen are provided.
The laundry has use of washing machine and dryer, iron and board. The kitchen comes fully fitted including dishwasher. .
Outside, the enclosed courtyard is colourful with planters, the use of a barbeque and a shed with 2 small beer fridges. Free off road parking. Room for vans/trailers.
Lock up shed available for up to 2 motorbikes. Free wifi. Payphone.
Best phone signal strength is Tmobile/Orange, Free, or Virgin. Backing on to farmland, the coastal path takes you to Whitsand Bay, Penlee point, Rame or Kingsand/Cawsand, also Mount Edgcumbe Park, all within a 3 mile radius. The nearest city is Plymouth, a short ride on the passenger ferry at Cremyll, or by car from Torpoint car ferry 7 miles away.
The Roscoff or Santander ferry can be accessed within an hour, with a 7 minute ride across the Cremyll ferry to Stonehouse. I Being on the most South Eastern point of Cornwall, the climate is more temperate than the North Coast of Corn
