The perfect place for our family stay
We booked the Mallard for 4 nights as we were going to a christening in the area but also wanted to extend our stay a little so we could have some quality family time together. There were 7 of us (6 adults plus our 2 year old granddaughter) so the Mallard was exactly the right size with a configuration of bedrooms and bathrooms that worked well for our group. As soon as we arrived we knew we had booked the right place. Not only was it very handy for the christening venue, but it was also in a good location with plenty of options for things to do in the area. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well-equipped, with some extra little touches added that had obviously been carefully thought about. There was a bottle of milk in the fridge for us so we could make a drink on arrival. There was a packet of biscuits and a selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolate on the kitchen table. Every bathroom had hand wash and body wash provided, plus there was a torch in each bedroom in case of power cuts (it was very dark at night!). We also found a baby monitor that we could use at night. The only slight negative was that the wi-fi was rather hit and miss. Our granddaughter enjoyed the play area outside, and loved meeting Biscuit the horse that Heather brought over specially one morning. Heather also spared the time to take us on a tour of the farm which was interesting. We visited Skipton castle and also had a steam train ride on the Emsbay and Bolton Abbey railway, both just 1/2 hour away from the cottage. If you like somewhere peaceful at night with plenty of room for the family this is the place for you. We wished we could have stayed a bit longer, but will definitely consider staying at The Mallard again.

Mallard is a lovely cottage with a really nice outlook onto the farm and surrounding countryside. It had excellent provision for babies and the play area for children was superb. It has very friendly owners and we were lovely and warm in the cottage.

Mallard was a spacious cottage with everything we needed including beautiful views and peaceful atmosphere. We found it very well catered for children; we loved the extra touches like blankets, bath toys, cutlery etc. We were in a great location for Skipton and Clitheroe and there was plenty to fill a weekend. We would love to return in the summer and enjoy the garden and BBQ fully!
