Nice cottage
We stayed for 6 nights with our two Children aged 11 and 14. The Cottage has been nicely renovated and has gas CH and a woodburning stove. The kitchen was reasonably well equiped and had been fitted with a new electric oven. There were plenty of powst and pans and other cooking utensils; we ate in a lot. In relation to previous comments re cleanliness, yes we had to clean the smudges off the glasses and cups before use but it didn't bother me. The Cottage was generally clean throughout despite this. There were no signs of spiders as previously mentioned. It is a lovely Cottage and for the price, worth the money.

On our way home after a very unpleasant stay in Pemba cottage . Firstly , it was filthy especially the oven , we could not use it as smoke belched from it when we did try n use ! The cottage had cupboards full of items ,such as wallpaper , tins of paint . Curtain hooks, old pics . No towels left out we had to search for them . Things had fell of walls and not put back , the log burner was dirty and not cleaned , there was also a thunder noise every time you flushed toilet or turned taps on . It was very annoying . I would have left cottage if it wasn?t for the fact we were in village for a special occasion . I have reported all issues with Sykes cottages , please avoid , also locals are very unfriendly .

Just Perfect
A 3 night stay and enjoyed it all. We were practically snowed in one day which just added to the charm. Great bed. Cosy cottage with everything you need. Store within walking distance and great pub across the road. Wood stove. Great atmosphere with lovely welcome pack on arrival. Enjoyed it all and would certainly recommend.

Not pet friendly
If you take your dog, there is no garden front or back. The nearest green 100yds away, has signs telling you no dogs allowed. The grouting between the work top tiles needs a thorough clean. All the kitchen preparation knives need a good sharpen. Advertised as having a bath and shower, only has a shower Apart from this a nice little cottage. The wine, cake and bread was a nice touch

Nice stay with welcome touches overshadowed by poor basic amenities
My experience was spoilt to a large extent by the appalling water pressure, We were advised prior to the break that the bath had been replaced with a walk in shower which as this was a winter walking break was most welcome. The property was of a good standard with some very nice details that the owner had provided, Cake, bread and wine - all nice touches. However these details were somewhat overshadowed on the days we returned muddy and cold from walking and unable to shower as expected. Our experience was that when the shower ran, the pressure was such that it barely lasted a few minutes before turning cold. I could not even fill the basin up in the bathroom with hot water - it just ran cold without any other drain on the system in the property. We complained on the Monday - a plumber attended stating he had called before with the same issue and left On Thursday the water was brownish and still intermittent in the shower - we left on that day. So while the cottage was welcoming it was overshadowed somewhat by this most basic requirement I do hope it is resolved soon.... The Parking is not guaranteed, it is a first come basis according to a local resident for the first 2 nights we parked away from the property, do not be led to think that the grass area to the side of the premises is a parking area - it is not.
