Creepy cottage
Caro?s Cottage is down a narrow country road from the village A few signs would be helpful. Drive slow as very uneven road. The following report is a shame as the cottage from the outside is attractive. Caros Cotrage Upon arrival trying to decide wether we had arrived at the correct cottage as no name plaque above the door. At first we used the code for the cottage but weren?t quite using it correctly. The owner came out and practically accused us of breaking in. I explained that my friends had booked the cottage under their name with a curt reply of no one hasn?t contacted her prior to arrival. I reassured her that my friend had contacted her. The lady softened and explained she had broken her foot and was not that mobile. She confirmed we were in the correct cottage, and she said look for the green door as stated on the site, but we had parked in the wrong place and asked me to move the car onto the lawn, (my friend thought our parking should be in front of the cottage,) then we were able to enter and settle in. (We arrived at the correct time)early arrivals were not acceptable. Upon arrival and looking around I thought how unkept the cottage appeared. The very small kitchen did not look particularly clean the sink was awful I had to try and clean the sink with natural products as no bleach or cleaning materials available. The kitchen was also unkept. The microwave and toaster at first took some working out. Only one tea towel in kitchen no towel. No cleaning products in the en-suite so unable to clean sinks or shower unit or bath. The following day we had to go and ask for more tea towels which were given but with instructions upon leaving Friday to return them inside the owners cottage next door. I have taken photos of certain areas in the cottage which is particularlly needing attention. In the dining area a connecting door with no bolt so we put the airier in front of it. A few strands of tape were over the door not quite sure why these were there. In our bedroom with the shower unit we tried to operate the towel rail but we then read in the cottage book the towel rail is broken. Cobwebs and grime around taps and in the window sills. The toilet holder on the wall is coming out of its sockets. (Photo)The bed appeared clean and sheets clean. The bed was very comfy. The white towels were soft and clean. The other bedroom with the bath that towel rail worked. The bottom of the bath was very slippy and felt it unsafe and no hand rails. This bedroom only has sky light windows. It has a door adjoining the owners cottage, we put a chair in front of it so the lady could not enter, they felt it was not secure. A bolt on our side should be installed to ensure security and peace of mind. Downstairs the two sofa?s are well past there sell by date, or they need a deep clean. We threw covers over them to feel comfortable whilst sitting on them. When we switched the lights on to discover the covers were full of dead flies. Cobwebs everywhere behind chairs, dust under the carpet. The outside space on the patio was in good order but felt uncomfortable when the owner was sitting outside as felt she was listening to our conversation. This cottage has been the worse we?ve hired from the letting agent. It was a peculiar cottage and strange vibes from it. A few signs at end of lane would be a good suggestion, I cannot recommend this cottage, It needs refurbishment in all areas.

Quiet country cottage
The cottage location is along a narrow, high-hedged road then a gravel track so be prepared to drive slowly & take care. The pros. Both bedrooms are large, clean & have good sized beds. Both have double wardrobes with some hangers, bedside drawers & twin reading lamps plus a hairdryer in each. Both en-suites had clean towels, shower-gel, shampoo, hand soap and toilet rolls. The living space is good size with lots of natural light from feature windows, a six-seater dining table, lots of overhead lighting & lamps. Even though the kitchen is very small, it is very well designed & has all you need. There is a sideboard in the dining area with lots of crockery etc. The garden is attractive with places to sit. There were fruit trees which when ripe the owner is happy to share (pears & apples). The area is very much off the beaten track & extremely quiet & peaceful (this is good in our book). There was a good selection of tourist information leaflets etc provided. Some cons. There was no milk etc provided which was a surprise. We were particularly frustrated as we arrived late on a bank holiday Monday so local shops were closed meaning we had to do a 16-mile round-trip to Church Stretton for some basics. There were a few places in the cottage where the cleaning was not spotless. There is an adjoining door to the owners? property both in the open-plan living area & in one of the bedrooms. This was disconcerting & made us feel like we could not fully relax so we tended to tiptoe around trying not to make much noise. The Sykes website states DVDs available but there were none - we always take our own but be aware if you are expecting these. Be aware that you are expected to dispose of your own rubbish in a dumpster at the end of the gravel track.

Nice place bizzybody owner
This is a nice cottage with all that you need and good bedrooms. The location is very out the way an a good 10-15 min drive thorough narrow lanes to fine civilisation. Which is not a major problem. My only issue was the owner was too interfering for my liking.. When we had not long arrived she was walked in through the door that adjoined her home to the cottage. I was not pleased at this. She did the same thing the next day as we were eating our dinner. She then spoke to my partner in a condescending tone when she could not get the cooker working. Still a good place but owner needs to stay away until requested.
