Disappointed
I have given this a 2 because the cottage itself is warm & cosy with plenty of hot wate, a comfy bed (apart from the loose metal headboard which was a pain) & a nice bathroom. However on arrival the cottage had not been prepped. Bed settee was still down & complete with dirty bedding. No contact from the caretaker to say there was a problem, even after leaving her voice mails & a text. Tried ringing owner & left a message. Again no response. Got a text after 5pm saying it was now ready...2hrs late. The toilet seat was broken, cottage was in desperate need of decoration. I think furniture has been moved/replaced leaving loads of dirty marks on the bedroom walls. Living room rug is dirty & stained...needs a good clean & the dining chairs are rickety & feel unsafe. Half a toilet roll for 2 people for a week! Not big enough for 4 people. Needs a smaller table as it feels cramped. The layout of the furniture is totally different from the original photos. Obviously decided on marketing it for 4 to charge more money! Thankfully there was just us 2 & our dog. I feel the owner is not interested in keeping this place in good condition while ever she is getting bookings. With prices ranging from ?300 to ?700 per week I find this totally unacceptable. I have never felt the need to complain like this before. Surely regular checks are done on these properties. It's a shame really. The property is in a great central location with a nice outside space. A rarity in Whitby.

Excellent little Gem
We stayed here for Christmas 2018. It was lovely and clean when we arrived, heating on and really welcoming. They had put up a Christmas tree and decorated the table with a Christmas theme. Great welcome. Cottage is small but perfect. Fantastic heating, great bath with plenty of hot water. Home from home with everything you needed on hand. Well placed in Whitby and 2 mins to nearest pub The Granby and 5 down to the harbour. Really enjoyed our stay here and have booked again for April .

Excellent !!!
Perfect location, a stones throw away from all the restaurants, pubs (most dog friendly), beach and shops. Would recomend the Wharf Abbey for an amazing steak dogs allowed and the local pub the Granby Hotel is just a 2 minute walk also sell lovely good priced food.

Small but perfect
The apartment was incredibly well looked after. It was very small - which we knew about - and to help with space I'd recommend reducing the amount of furniture the cottage has within it. It is advertised as possibly a 4 bed, but this would be very very tight! The courtyard garden was great - especially for the dog. The bed was comfortable, but again, reducing the bedroom furniture would have allowed us more space to move around. The d?cor within the apartment is adorable and the bathroom well serviced - great shower. The kitchen has everything you need - including a washing machine. Removing one of the 2 dining tables would really help with space. The apartment is well located - less than 5 minutes away from the beach, harbour and town. Lots of local pubs and eateries and tonnes of places happy to accept dogs in your party too. Car parking wasn't a problem for us during our stay - the owner had left a permit for us. The apartment is accessed via a not so well kept back alley, but don't let this put you off!
