A mid-terrace Victorian property, a short walk from the beach in Whitby, with eight bedrooms accommodating up to 15 people.

Hidden Treasure is a wonderful family holiday home near the beach in Whitby, on the coastline of North Yorkshire. The property can accommodate up to 15 people in eight bedrooms set across the first, second and third floors. These include four double bedrooms, two with en-suite shower rooms, and two slightly smaller on the third floor. There are also three single bedrooms, one with an additional pull-out bed, and a family room with a double bed, a single bed, and a further pull-out. There is a bathroom on the second floor, a shower room on both the first and second floors, and two separate WCs. The kitchen, which has a small dining area for eight people, can be used to prepare delicious meals for the family, or picnics for days out and about exploring the North York Moors and Coast. There is a separate dining room with an open fire and seating for 15, a first floor sitting room for 10 and a small sitting area in the lobby where you can curl up with a good book. Outside, there is a small enclosed patio to the front with seating for six, roadside parking on a first come, first serve basis with scratch card permits and a five-minute walk to the beach and amenities of Whitby. There is so much to see and do in this beautiful part of the country, but Hidden Treasure is sure to be the jewel in the crown of your holiday experience.

Poorly Equipped kitchen
11 of us spent a weekend here. Although there are lots of bedrooms it was a squash in the dining room to fit us all round the table which was surrounded by sofas. We removed the plastic lace effect table cover which was sticky and dirty. The doors to the main shower and 1 ensuite shower were broken so we were left with one shower in a bedroom and the slipper bath between all of us. The separate WC's did not have hand basins. We had to ring the housekeeper as there were no tea towels, oven gloves and insufficient bath towels. There was only 1 good sized and quality pan. The others were small and either had the nonstick peeling off or were rusty. If I had not brought a large casserole with us we could not have made the chicken stew on Friday. I needed solid roasting tins for the next day to roast and finish off on the hob. The only ones that were not disgusting were paper thin. The housekeeper was lovely and helpful and brought another pan, jug bowl and two oven trays and a set of knives to replace the one that had broken in my hand. The trouble was she had been given a budget to stick to and the ?9.99 set of knives were as unusable as the first set. We asked for a big cafeti?re as there was no way to make coffee and we got a tiny one for 1 mug. It is clear that the kitchen is new but the basics like dealing with the damp in the pan cupboard had not been sorted. There is lots of lovely crockery and a good hob and oven but if you intend to cook I would ensure you bring a decent knife and big pots and pans

Good location
Just got back from our stay,13 of us. Positive - enough rooms to sleep a large party. Negatives - the whole house needs a blooming good clean, every bin in each bathroom was full so were the bins outside!!! 13 people in self catering for a week, create a lot of rubbish. The towels were stained and damp, not properly dried. The brochure says a shower room on the first floor, you have to go up a full set of stairs plus another 6, not ideal for my elderly mum. Positive - we made the most of our time here and the location was good.

The kitchen at Hidden Treasure is fantastic, we spent most of the time in there. We were a big group of ladies and it suited us very well. Lovely house.

Whitby Weekend
I have just returned from a birthday weekend here, booking this place mainly due to location and size as we were a party of ten. Plenty of positives - excellent location, lots of fresh sheets and towels, great kitchen with loads of pots and pans for cooking. Nice size bedrooms. however a few negatives too - generally quite grubby - had to bleach rubbish bin on arrival, very dusty when retrieving toys from hidden corners, finger marks on windows, dirty tablecloths. A big negative is there isn't a room where everyone can sit together, even though it states sleeps 15 we struggled to get 10 around the dining table and neither lounge area was adequate to seat everyone. It depends on how often you intend to eat in as to whether to recommend or not - fine for breakfast and fish and chips if less than ten of you, otherwise you will need a pub or restaurant to seat you all .

We had 3 generations staying in the house and everyone of them want to go back again. The house was perfect for us all and very sound proof, I found if you wanted a bit a peace you could shut your bedroom door and hear nothing. The house is in a perfect location only a few minutes walk into town. We will definitely try and go back next year.
