Darling ancient former duchy cottage
Beautiful cottage preserved for people to enjoy in a quiet and beautiful place to relax by the fire or in the countryside. Very helpful landlord and well equipped little cottage.

Cosy modern getaway
Just spent a lovely week in this quaint cottage. Modern interior, lovely fixtures and fittings. All mod cons. Great to sit by a lovely log burner on a Winters evening. Sure we'll return next year

Cob cottage. Talskiddy. We stayed here in the winter 2019. Beauriful property. Rural village. We did look on trip advisor and laughed. Spiders everywhere. We looked up the chimby. You cant theres is a metal restrictor plate fitted. Shower perfect. No spiders. This property the owner and booking diary on site show its booked on average 48 weeks per year. Cant be bad. Its constantly lived in. Prity spiral stair case as advertised. Some people look for problems. You may get the odd spider like at home. All mod cons. Clean. Comfy. Ideal for a couple or 3 people. Small enclosed garden. Private shingle parking.

Bad experience.
Cold cottage, heating on timer which you were continually pressing the boost button to get heat. Woodburner door was loose, so couldn't keep the fire in, as it was drawing all the time. The Tumble Dryer didn't work, items were put in and came out still wet but hot. The shower had poor water pressure. The bathroom sink was small. We had extreme winds and something in the chimney caused banging all night which kept us awake. There was no garden only a tiny patio, no good if you have a dog. On the whole a terrible stay would not recommend this property in the winter when its cold, wet and windy. We cut our holiday short by 3 days due to being cold, not being able to dry wet clothes and having no where to hang them to even try and dry them off. After reporting all these faults felt that nothing would be done and fell on deaf ears. We've had holiday cottages for 14 years and this was probably the worst one we've stayed in.

Lovely decor and style but ended up being a living nightmare! (SPIDERS)
In Oct 2017, we returned from Cornwall and began looking for somewhere to stay the following year and found Cob Cottage. Impressed by the decor, style and location, we decided to book. Upon arrival, we were very pleased with the cottage, very clean, tidy and just as pictured, modern and stylish. They garden was as pictured, so we knew it was going to be something we dint use, as it wasn't to dog friendly being steps and no grass. We unpacked, finding the stairs a real challenge with the cases but no big drama. All was well until the sun went down and we began our first night in the cottage. I had a shower which was impossible. The shower looks great but didn't actually work! No power at all, just dribbled out, hardly wetting me at all but the main issue was that it was with freezing cold or pipping hot. So hot that you couldn't stand under it. So I choose cold, as I wanted to keep my skin. the experience was very unpleasant but after a 7.5 hour drive from Essex and a few hours on a windy beach, it had to be done. Being so cold after the shower, we lit the log burner. I made the mistake of shining a torch up the chimney and found years and I mean years of cobwebs. Big, thick, black cob webs, much like a shop window, Halloween display, but... I thought to myself, nothing a hoover can't solve... So we hoovered all the chimney out and tried not to think that they were made by spiders! Lit the fire, had dinner - all the kitchen equipment was fine, cooker was good, well equipped etc, sat down for the evening then our worst nightmare came true! SPIDERS - MASSIVE SPIDERS! In the space of 20mins, we had 6 huge spiders in the living room. They were coming from everywhere - under the sofas, from the cupboards and I assume behind the washing machine etc. I don't like spiders and nor does my partner but he will dispose of them and be done with it but this was a joke! We could not kill them quick enough. I assume where we had hoovered and warmed the house, we had disturbed them but they were everywhere. The cottage has a dark wood floor but still we could see them due to their size. The walls are white, so this made seeing their size much easier. It was just horrific! With that, I called the letting agent that we had used, on the emergency line and said, there was no way we could sleep in the cottage. They were very good about it but to cut a very long story short, they advised us to get a hotel and call back in the morning. So, we left the cottage at 11pm that night and stayed in a hotel in Newquay, costing us £100. When we left, there were spiders climbing up the outside of the cottage, they were everywhere! The next day we went back to the cottage, shook all our coats, shoes and re-packed our bags and left the property. As it was our choice to leave, the agency said we would have to find an alternative property for the week or go home. We didn't want to waste our week, so we paid another £400 for another property for the rest of the week. If you don't mind spiders crawling all over you and your belongings, then Cob Cottage is a very pretty, modern and clean place to stay, in a great location but ... for us, it was a living nightmare that cost us alot of money! PROS... Clean, Modern, Cosy, Well Equipped, Good location, Good WiFi.... CONS Spiders - on mas scale(!), Mess garden - not idea for dogs, Shower doesn't work... We would never return to Cob Cottage again. If you are going to book, I suggest you take some form of spider killer spray and if you have a dog, an elevated bed for them to sleep in because the floor is not an option!
