Quirky house with lots of character.
We went for a 3 night stay with our in-laws and 2 small children.
The house was lovely and warm with a very cosy kitchen. There is a log burner in the front room which must make the room super cosy in the winter. As it was summer there was no need for us to use it. The rooms were comfortable and everybody slept well for all of the nights (this is good considering we had a 3 and 1 year old baby with us.
Plenty of hot water and very friendly neighbours.
Be aware that it is on a busy road with no direct garden. Although there is a great half height door to let the light and air in. This was perfect to be able to let the kids run around.
The best kept secret about this is that there is a garden area just on the other side of the road which is super tranquil being next to the stream.
Lots of great walks nearby and a decent pub within a short drive. We went to Minehead one day which was just fabulous.

Perfect off-grid sanctuary
Love this spot. Its become my place of sanctuary. I go here to be off-grid and enjoy the countryside. Loads of walking, pubs and beaches are not far.

Quaint property in the middle of nowhere
OK... so on the upside this property is a quaint lovely little cottage, very characteristic. Well maintained and good facilities. Enjoyed our stay here. It was quirky, with games, books, DVDs provided. If you are an avid walker who doesn't mind a trek to get anywhere then it's perfect. Lovely log burner fire for the evenings and plenty of wood provided in the shed. If you want secluded and out of the way then it's perfect.
WiFi is OK, not bad at all for the middle of nowhere to be honest.
Downside..
Got to say Definitely not a place for a young family though. Road is a busy 60mph B road, in between 2 bends with no street lighting or path. So not an easy road to walk along.
Nearest village is Wheddon Cross but its a good 20 mins walk away either down the road or via muddy, unlit footpaths and cowfields etc.. so you are not going anywhere at night without a good torch and a pair of good shoes.
The garden is not attached to the property.... it is across the road, towards the stream, somewhere... we didn't actually find it. But there is a patio (kind of) area. But its roadside. Not a place to let kids play or sit with a cuppa in the morning!
Range cooker not used for cooking, only heating. No instructions for electric oven that we could find. But worked it out in the end... even if not fully functional.
Cleaning questionable during covid but good enough to pass muster in a time of normality!
No dryer, but radiators can be used. Ironing board not clever but grateful to have one. Iron provided.
Parking and pulling out onto the road not the best in my opinion.
Privacy is questionable.... bathroom window leads to steps to another house and kitchen window looks into someone else's garden.
60mph road passes directly infront of property so you are more than aware of every lorry and car and horse that passes (especially at 6am).
Overall.... for a couple that wants secluded, quaint and quirky and Country walks and drive outs then this place is great. Families, less abled, non hikers... maybe not!!
Take your wellies, take your torch, leave the kids with grandma/grandpa and your sorted!!
