Not quite perfect
Although the property is comfortable and spacious we were not impressed with certain aspects of the cleaning. We were the first occupants after lockdown was eased and we thought the property would have been deep cleaned but that was not the case. The food trap in the dishwasher had food and tinfoil in it,there was out of date oil and various condiments left in the cupboard but the worst thing was finding an empty beer can behind the sofa! This was not acceptable in view of the current Covid-19 situation. This could have been a perfect cottage but was let down by these problems.
Spacious and comfortable
Although this flat is part of a large complex of holiday accommodation, it feels like a home, with lovely spacious rooms. So refreshing to find a holiday let with room to move around! We found fresh bread, butter and dog snacks on arrival, all very much appreciated. Oh, and a lovely bottle of wine! Well-equipped kitchen, good shower, comfy beds, good internet, plenty of books and DVDs if necessary. It's a very peaceful location, convenient for visiting Grange, Cartmel and the Lakes. We loved it!
'Perfect retreat from the city'
The cottage is very comfortable and homely. There is everything you need with a good choice of board games. It was ideal to go back to after a long day out. The location is perfect for a walking holiday. There is a lovely pub a stone's throw away. Grange over sands is a 30 min walk. From here you can get trains to other areas. The owners have put together a guide of walks which is really useful. The neighbours are very friendly and have lots of knowledge of the area. We will be back!!
Stayed last year and a lovely location. Nice and peaceful but easy access to everywhere the family wanted to go. My dog loved it as well plenty of lovely walks for him but a pint for me walking distance. I booked it mostly due to it being roughly where my mum is from n enjoyed visiting the places she grew up n seeing my great grandparents house which all was close by. But the rental itself was welcoming clean comfortable and exactly what you need for the type of holiday. I have booked it again this July and can?t wait to go back. The local people very friendly and warming just hope they grasp my Scottish accent lol at times. A beautiful part of the world to be seen and such a joy to spend time n a more relaxed environment from the hustle n bustle of city life, highly recommend.
My son and I stayed here over Christmas as it is a stones throw from my family. It is a lovely house, clean and tidy and with every type of anything you could want. Including a fully equipped kitchen. Games. Dvds. TV n etc... I challenge you to need something which isn't provided!!
It does have WiFi, however if you are used to fast Internet speeds. Forget it as you are in the middle of no where, so turn off your phone and speak to your relatives!!!
The owners left bread, milk, butter, prosecco and mince pies. A lovely gesture.
The nearest shops are in Grange over sands a couple of miles away. However there is a small shop at the nearby caravan club site. The Woodlands Hotel which is next door to Meathop Grange provides good food which is worth a visit.
Lovely place to stay. It does have lots of steps around the place so if you have mobility issues may not be the place to go.
