Quiet and well placed
Nice cottage in a quiet location. We normally go for modern properties with a hot tub, but due to Covid had to have a late booking. The decor is a bit dated in some of the rooms, but the cottage has plenty of room and everything you need. They limit it to two occupants, pet free and no children. You have all the facilities you need and a great location for exploring the Lake District. Probably 5 mins walk to Lake Windamere. Pleasant experience and would book again. It has a modern kitchen, which has everything you need along with a large fridge and freezer. There is a dishwasher and washer/dryer and room to dry clothes. Most things have been thought of and you dont need anything else. We had deer, a woodpecker, tits and three Buzzards out the front. There is a modern bathroom with Jacuzzi built in with an on-suit upstairs off the main bedroom. They advise not to use the shower in the wet room, but no issues with a big bathroom downstairs. We just used the toilet and sink. The living room is a bit dated and could do with new table and settees, but still comfy and had Netflix provided. You really do not need anything else. Maybe a hot tub outside as these are becoming more popular, but this is a personal thing and would have been great to unwind looking at all the wild life. Owners live next door and seem friendly. You have off road parking in a safe area. Probably about 40 mins drive to Keswick/Blencathra, 25 mins to Helvellyn and 80 mins to Scaffel Pike, so ideal location if hiking is your thing.

Quiet and peaceful
Easily accessible and delightful cottage with bedroom upstairs overlooking green fields with wild deer. Easy 100 yd walk down to the road where Brockhole house and gardens must be visited. Bus stop also if you wish to leave your car. Kitchen very modern and everything you need if you eat in though very many eating places in surrounding villages. Wi-Fi excellent and TV has a wide range of channels . We are 70 and 64 and found both the cottage and location perfect for our one week break . Off road parking on the gravel at the back of the property with a sharpish turn . Would love to retire there. A very quiet and peaceful spot yet near many attractions . If you like Chinese food we enjoyed the Golden Mountain in Windermere just down from Booths supermarket where you can leave your car free for a limited time and Trattoria Italian in Bowness for big portions!

Merewood Cottage
Just spent a week in this cosy well equipped cottage .We really enjoyed our time there from seeing deer grazing in the adjoining fields to garden birds feeding outside our lounge window ...unfortunately we had a problem with the en suite wet room which became very wet indeed leaking through to the bedroom and even dripping onto the floor below via the lounge ceiling..a lovely old cottage but old drains unable to cope with modern wet rooms it looks as if this has been an on going problem for some time and it needs to be rectified ..however it didn?t ruin our week ..j

A lovely cottage in a peaceful setting
We had a wonderful week with good weather and really enjoyed our stay. The parking is gated and I smiled when I saw the notice "please close the gate as the deer eat gardens" but at dusk that night I looked out of the back window and saw the deer on the hill, I am not sure if I was watching them or they were watching me. The cottage is comfortable well situated and had everything we needed. A very lovely holiday and we would definitely return.

Beautiful cottage in a tranquil setting next to Lake Windermere
The cottage was exactly as described and the location was perfect for both Ambleside and Windermere. There were some lovely walks out from the cottage and a bus stop at the end of the land which meant that it wasn't necessary to take our car out after we had arrived. The cottage was well equipped and warm. Luckily we also had the benefit of the sunshine for our weekend stay, despite a bit of snow still falling on the hills.
