This Gerogian villa in Ryde sleeps twelve people in six bedrooms.
Burford House is a Georgian villa in the town of Ryde. There are six bedrooms set over four floors, with a mixture of doubles and twins, and three lovely bathrooms, one with whirlpool bath and rainfall shower with steam vent for added luxury. The living accommodation is just as spacious, with a kitchen, dining room, sitting room, reading room and children's snug. The garden offers a lawn and patio with furniture, and there is off road parking for two or three cars. Burford House is perfectly placed for enjoying Ryde, or exploring the island as a whole.

Perfect House, perfect location The house is set in an elevated position in the heart of the resort, and a mere ten minutes stroll from the hoverport and Ryde Esplanade station. Shops, pubs and restaurants are all within a five minute walk. The house is very spacious with high ceilings and period features. Although the rooms are set on four floors, they are reached by 5 - 10 comfortable shallow steps. On the lower floor was the well equipped kitchen with a small dinning area, which was ideal for a staggered breakfast. Our ?chef? certainly had no problems preparing lavish meals for the twelve of us. There were plenty of washing up liquids, dishwasher tabs, and cleaning equipment supplied, and plenty of external bins for rubbish.
Situated next to the kitchen was a separate small lounge with comfortable reclining chairs and numerous books. Next door was the ?kids? room with TV and games consoles which our young teens loved to relax. The first floor featured the living room, with bay windows and distant sea views, which could comfortably accommodate eight people on three sofas. It also had a large flatscreen TV with Sky+. Next door was the main dining room with large table that comfortably our whole group. The remaining floors contained the six clean and comfortable beds, one of which had bay windows with sea views, and bathroom/WC facilities. The fitted sheets on a couple of beds seemed a little small, and quickly became loose, but not a real problem. There is a large enclosed rear garden with barbecue facilities.
There is no need for a car as there is an excellent network of buses that cover all major resorts and attractions on the Island, plus the Island Railway serves major towns on the east coast. If arriving on foot with lots of luggage, or if you have walking difficulties, then you might want to consider taking the No 9 bus from outside Ryde Esplanade station and travelling just the one stop from where the house is just around the corner. This avoids the fairly steep hill leading up to the house from the esplanade.
The owners had done all they could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable, including supplying a comprehensive information package prior to arrival and extra door keys, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Burford House for a family get together. Molesey19 2018-09-07
Disappointed with the tired-looking house Location very good, only a few minutes walk to the beach with the various amenities. The house itself needed a spring clean! Mould in two of the showers and the washing machine, tear in the sofa cushion and generally less than I expected. Parking not good unless you have a very small car. The playroom with bean bags for children, TV and various DVDs and games was enjoyed by our tinies, and was opposite the kitchen so easy to keep an eye on them.
With a bit of extra cleaning and mending some of the amenities (cooker knobs, blender, mixer etc) this would be a much more desirable property. cmbathurst 2017-08-19
Lovely, spacious house, perfect location. We stayed over the Easter period - 8 adults and four children aged from 4 to 10. We go away every year to a different location as family and this has been by far the best place we have stayed. The property is huge and very well equipped and the location is fantastic. Shops, bars, restaurants, the beach are all within a very short walk.
The property itself is over 5 floors with a large, open plan kitchen at the bottom with plenty of seating for meals, games etc - looking out onto a lovely, light garden. Next to the kitchen is a smaller sitting type room with recliners and a playroom adjacent with TV/DVD and various games machines and toys - perfect for all the children, who would head straight to it. There is a lovely, light sitting room and a dining room which sat all of us. All bedrooms are of a considerable size and there are two large bathrooms, three showers and loos. It truly is a fantastic property. We had a great week there and hope to return again. GISiSu 2017-04-28
