This Gerogian villa in Ryde sleeps twelve people in six bedrooms.

Burford House is a Georgian villa in the town of Ryde. There are six bedrooms set over four floors, with a mixture of doubles and twins, and three lovely bathrooms, one with whirlpool bath and rainfall shower with steam vent for added luxury. The living accommodation is just as spacious, with a kitchen, dining room, sitting room, reading room and children's snug.

The garden offers a lawn and patio with furniture, and there is off road parking for two or three cars. Burford House is perfectly placed for enjoying Ryde, or exploring the island as a whole.

Not good enough
To start, Burford House was not expensive and to an extent you get what you pay for. However, the whirlpool bath, the biggest selling point of the description was not working. This left us with two baths/showers for eleven people, not convenient at all. We contacted Laura the housekeeper to be told they were waiting for the plumber to get back to them....so they knew it wasn't working and hadn't had the decency to tell us. Following up two days later we were told an engineer would come to repair it, only to be told it was unrepairable. Our suspicion is that it hadn't been working for some considerable time. The engineer left the bottom off the bath, screwdrivers lying around and a broken lock from a cupboard he'd had to break into! The house was not very clean and in these covid times when premises are supposed to be deep cleaned and sanitised, that was concerning. The garden was in a terrible state, weeds everywhere, untidy, the grass needed cutting and there were even bags of rubbish piled in a corner. The extension which housed two of the bathrooms had very large, deep, internal cracks around it, quite worrying. Some of the toilets did not flush properly, the downstairs wet room didn't have a mirror and the window was locked, no key. The one saving grace was the kitchen which appears to have been renovated fairly recently, very well equipped and yet there were only two wine glasses! Also the house is in a very good position walking distance from almost everywhere in Ryde. This house with some TLC could be lovely but I certainly wouldn't recommend it in it's current state.

Christmas holiday
The house is bigger than I fought enough seating for all my family the equipment in was Excellent things from sky q tv to washing machine and dryer. one of if not the best cooker I?ve ever had on a holiday has a garden with bbq and chairs table but at Christmas it's to cold to use 3 bathrooms the best thing about the house where it's so big there no arguments because you didn?t know where everyone was. hope to be back Christmas 2019 and hopefully get back during the summertime so I can sit in that garden and relax I?ll give the 5 stars and would recommend it to any big family or friends

Disappointed with the tired-looking house
Location very good, only a few minutes walk to the beach with the various amenities. The house itself needed a spring clean! Mould in two of the showers and the washing machine, tear in the sofa cushion and generally less than I expected. Parking not good unless you have a very small car. The playroom with bean bags for children, TV and various DVDs and games was enjoyed by our tinies, and was opposite the kitchen so easy to keep an eye on them. With a bit of extra cleaning and mending some of the amenities (cooker knobs, blender, mixer etc) this would be a much more desirable property.

Lovely, spacious house, perfect location.
We stayed over the Easter period - 8 adults and four children aged from 4 to 10. We go away every year to a different location as family and this has been by far the best place we have stayed. The property is huge and very well equipped and the location is fantastic. Shops, bars, restaurants, the beach are all within a very short walk. The property itself is over 5 floors with a large, open plan kitchen at the bottom with plenty of seating for meals, games etc - looking out onto a lovely, light garden. Next to the kitchen is a smaller sitting type room with recliners and a playroom adjacent with TV/DVD and various games machines and toys - perfect for all the children, who would head straight to it. There is a lovely, light sitting room and a dining room which sat all of us. All bedrooms are of a considerable size and there are two large bathrooms, three showers and loos. It truly is a fantastic property. We had a great week there and hope to return again.
