Gorgeous cottage!! We couldn't not review Vineyard Cottage after our stay this week.
This GORGEOUS cottage has been perfect for our stay (2 adults & our daughter) in the heart of Devon.
The cottage, itself, has everything you need - from a washing machine, to a bath, wood burning stove, dining table and more! The living room is traditional & cosey, with a central long burning stove. The modern kitchen has everything you need and more. Whilst the bedrooms provide you with the best night's sleep you've had in a long time. The bathroom is clean, modern and the shower is lovely. On top of the essentials, you have a small courtyard & storages areas for bikes/canoes etc.
Additionally, there is the most well stocked corner shop you've ever seen a minute's walk from the cottage. A local cider farm (all the essentials!) a five minute walk away. Along with two pubs a couple of minutes walk away - our recommendation would be the Seven Stars has a pool table, darts board & Sky/BT Sport to watch the football/cricket on, to fill the time on a rainy day.
On top of all of these amenities & cottage features, we were provided with milk, apple juice & eggs on arrival which was a lovely personal touch. On top of this, the cottage has lots of spices/oil/tea & non perishable essentials also in the cupboards (or it did for us anyway!).
We have loved our time at Vineyard Cottage & we would recommend it to anyone! K3ZZA_08 2017-06-08
Chocolate Box Cottage We were met with a warm welcome from Mel the house keeper. She greeted us with Fresh free range eggs from her own home, milk, & locally sourced apple juice. A lovely gesture! Mel advised she was on hand for our entire stay should we need her & then she left us to begin our holiday.
The cottage itself was great! Was much bigger then it looked on the outside but still 'cosy'. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay there. We have 3 children & they all loved their bedrooms wanting to stay "forever". The main bedroom is much larger than expected. Linen & towels were provided, we each had plenty of soft, fluffy towels & the linen was crisp & clean.Throughout the cottage there is real character with beams to uneven floors upstairs which we loved. Winkleigh was described as "In the middle of no where, but central to everything" This is spot on! It has a lovely church, with the bells sounding on the hour (however it doesn't disturb you!!) the usual shop, 2 pubs, butchers, & vets in the village. We were busy with days out having 3 children - 10 yr, 8 yr & a 5yr old. Travelling no more than 1 1/2 hours to get to our chosen activity for the day. A day out was Croyde beach. Lovely & clean & good to know there was a life guard near by & toilets at the car park which were of an 'ok' standard (lots of people using them) Our best day out was Dingles, you have to go there!! Fantastic fairground museum run by volunteers, adults & children alike grinning like Cheshire cats all around. We all had a fab day there. Milky way, Clovelly & a miniature pony center went down well with all the kids too.
Our holiday was soon over & it was back home........
One member of the family did however stay for an extended few days. Even though we checked the cottage before leaving, my youngest left his much loved soft toy there. We didn't even know until Mel contacted me that same evening to say she had him safe & sound. Without hesitating Mel quickly posted it back to my son at her own expense.
As a family our only regret was that we only had 1 week there & it was over too quickly!!!
Thank you Mel!!
