Fabulous cottage in a lovely location
We enjoyed a lovely week at Heron Cottage during a spell of particularly good weather. However even if the weather had not been up to much it would not have affected our enjoyment of staying in this wonderful holiday cottage. There is a very cosy woodburner in the comfortable lounge and the central heating worked well throughout the property. Heated towel rails were especially lovely in the two bathrooms. The large outdoor hot tub in the back garden was spotlessly clean and such a treat to enjoy on a nightly basis under the stars!
My partner cooked a delicious steak meal for us one night and found everything he needed in the way of kitchen utensils and equipment. The only extra item which I will bring along next time is kitchen roll, but everything else was in position in the kitchen right down to salt and pepper and dishwasher tablets. The beds were comfortable and spacious and there was plenty storage throughout so we weren?t tripping over suitcases etc.
On arrival there was a home made cake, loaf of bread, butter, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, Prosecco and a gorgeous bunch of daffodils to welcome us. Robes and slippers plus White company toiletries were provided. What thoughtful and lovely touches!
We found the location of Heron cottage perfect as it was a ten minute walk to nearby pubs and shops in the pretty village of Addingham. From the cottage door, there is a very pleasant riverside wander along the Dales Way and I believe you can follow this all the way to Bolton Abbey, which we visited by car. Day trips out to Harrogate, Ilkley and Skipton are lovely ways to spend time out and about and RHS Harlow Carr gardens highly recommended too.
What a well kept secret Olicana park is! We look forward to a return visit! Thank you so much Susie and co.

Heron cottage
We have returned from a wonderful week at Heron cottage. It is a beautifully ddecorated and very well equipped cottage. It's by the river Wharf, with gentle walks along the river on the doorstep. The hot tub was a big hit. As the previous comment noted, the cottage backs on to new lodges which are being built, along with a small cafe/ bistro just beyond the garden fence. These were unoccupied during our visit, but potential visitors to Heron ought to appreciate this isn't an isolated property miles from anywhere. If you like the buzz of a holiday park & the convenience of somewhere to eat over the garden fence ( and if the cafe reflects the standard of the cottage , which I'm sure it will) it's bound to be excellent, this is definitely a place to try. The Dales are captivating .

Wonderful place to stay - highly recommended
We stayed in Heron 15-22 June and had a wonderful time. The cottage is a perfect balance - quiet, well-equipped, luxurious and great location! The owners are fabulous too, easy to contact and lovely people. Any requests or queries were dealt with so well.
Wishing the owners all the bests with the new lodges (that we will come stay in soon hopefully). We can?t recommend this place highly enough, had such a lovely holiday. We stayed with our 3 year old daughter and labrador. Good walking nearby and a river for dog to swim in on the doorstep. Hot tub perfect to unwind at end of the day.
