Yorkshire Wolds Self Catering cottage, Engine Room Cottage, Sledmere, sleeps 6

Impressive spacious modern
We booked the cottage to have a late Christmas reunion, bringing the family together from Scotland, Suffolk and Sheffield. The cottage is a beautiful well equipped and maintained gem ideally suited for popping in to York and to the east coast (we did both) whilst still very rural. The cottage has solar panels and a heat source system as well as an external charging point for electric cars. Although Sledmere House was closed we used the free pass Catherine (the owner) provided to see the heavy horses and to visit the walled garden. As a family we cannot recommend Engine Room Cottage highly enough.

What a fabulous place to stay
What a charming place! The owner (Catherine) hasn't missed a thing, it is so well equipped. There is everything you could possibly require for a cottage holiday break. Kitchen cupboards full of condiments (in case you forget yours) herbs/spices/sauces and ample cooking utensils and crockery/glassware. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had a cosy atmosphere of warmth in these cold months. The beds/bedding and towels were of superior quality, as were the furnishings downstairs. A selection of games and a bluetooth speaker were welcome. Sledmere is a small, but beautiful picture-box village and we dined at the fabulous local pub 'The Triton inn' on our last night which was within walking distance. A really relaxing and cosy stay in what can only be described as 'affordable luxury.'

A hidden gem
A fabulous holiday home in a lovely location. We had a girlie getaway and felt the Engine Room Cottage was just delightful. Very spacious and immaculately clean with very thoughtful little touches to make us feel very welcome. We will be back to both here and the delightful Clara's Cottage soon.

Wonderful Spacious Environmental Conversion
What a wonderful place to stay which is far more spacious than the photos show. It's very well equipped and makes excellent use of environmental improvements including solar and heat pump technologies. Fixtures and fittings are very good and comfortable. Location is truly fantastic for the Yorkshire East Coast resorts, as well as the Yorkshire Wolds and good for all ages. Amazing open views help make Engine Room Cottage a true ?getaway? and a lovely place to be active or to chill. Would highly recommend and our host Catherine was great and keen to ensure we were well informed and happy - with delightful personal touches to help celebrate a special occasion.

Outstanding property
Lovely holiday rental , very clean, well equipped and slightly quirky . Lots of attention to detail and near to great village pub! Free pass for 4 people to Sledmere house and gardens added bonus. Would definitely stay again
