Rural Highland Escape, Stunning Views, Wildlife
Outstanding base for a true rural escape. We booked this Chalet, literally, as I was driving north from Glasgow so if you are looking for a last minute retreat then rest assured you will receive a prompt reply.
The facilities in the chalet are good. Plenty of hot water for the shower or bath and a good kitchen, well equipped and more than adequate to prepare proper meals. There is a washing machine and clothes-line to use (and a clothes rack if the weather is bad.)
Tv with a wide selection of dvd is available but as you are looking out onto fantastic views I would take a book and enjoy the veranda seating area, keep binoculars handy for the wildlife that you may encounter - eagles, pine marten, squirrels, sea life.
There is a very friendly local shop within walking distance. Nearest large supermarket is a 120 mile round trip so either shop in Fort William before arriving or eat out in the local pubs, hotel and cafes.
The real test is whether I would recommend this place to a friend and if I would book again and the answer to both is yes. It is an isolated rural setting, fantastic starry nights and without the usual touristy attractions - go because you want the quiet, natural environment with a real tranquil experience.

Nearly 5 stars but......
We enjoyed a week's stay at the chalet which has a great position and stunning outlook over the Sound of Mull. It was clean and wll equipped and I would have given 5 stars but some aspects needed some TLC! Some lightbulbs had failed and not been replaced, the oven had not been cleaned for some time, the clothes dryer collapsed repatedly under the weight of only a few items and the shower desperately needs to be replaced. There is no wifi or phone line, which is expected in this remote area, but the hotel 200 yards away can provide it for internet "junkies"! One small village shop about half a mile away and the ferry to Mull ( a must do) is a few minutes drive. Food at the hotek is excellent with friendly service. Visits to the lighthouse and to Sanna beach are about 20 minutes drive. Bay McNeil is strongly recommended for a stunning aspect. Do note that from the Corran Ferry there is about an hour and a half's drive over very twisting single track roads to reach Kilchoan. The nature tours offered on Mull are well worth the journey and on a good day the boat ride itself is great.
