Fortnight in Somerset
On arrival it was a wow.classical music playing, nicely lit and smelt very nice.On the first night we sat outside and used the logs provided on the Woodburner with a glass of wine,2 adults and 3 small cocker spaniel girls. After reading the cottage guide book and numerous cards with all the do's and dont's we had to remove any cushions etc from the living area as if they had dog hair on them we would be charged for any dry cleaning required. Protective covers are provided for the furniture but are not comfortable. The back of one of the couches was broken and very uncomfortable to sit on.We slept ok but the quilt cover doesn?t fit the quilt and is too small for the bed.The cottage is very noisy, if one person goes to bed later than another, gets up during the night and in the morning then others are wakened by creaky floors and noisy doors that don't open or lock properly. Dogs movement in living areas could be heard everywhere. Would be ok for 2 people without any dogs. The cottage is surrounded by large trees,so the garden gets very little sunshine and can be cold even when warm elsewhere. The garden is also overlooked from the other two cottages next door and any walkers going onto the Quantock hills. There were some nice touches ,shampoo, body wash and the shower was really good.Prosecco and cake. You could walk onto the Quantock hills from the doorstep but we preferred to go to Holford and walk on the Quantock hills there. The cottage is on a lane which is narrow with very few passing places. There is a convience store, post office and pub at the bottom of the lane.We walked on Cotherstone hill and in Vivary park in Taunton. Both were beautiful. Kilve beach is rock pools and platelets not good for dog walking and the coastal paths are on cliff edges and are uncomfortable to walk with adventurous dogs. The Plough inn at Holford do a good lunch and you can sit outside and there are water bowls for dogs.We would return to Somerset but not this cottage as we did not find it dog friendly. We feel that accepting dogs does not necessarily mean it's dog friendly. Others may have a very different view of this chalet cottage.

The accommodation was first class, the hosts had thought of everything to make our holiday as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The quality of everything about the cottage was top notch. It was nice and remote, which we like, and very peaceful and relaxing. Just a very nice place to stay.

We particularly liked the peace and quiet at Coleridge, such luxurious surroundings.
