How anyone could not enjoy this delightful cottage is beyond us, but their loss is out gain
We have stayed many times at this lovely cottage. We found it always warm, clean and comfy and ideally situated if you love peace and tranquility, also the added bonus of the steam trains to view right from the cottage. It is perfect.
The owners couldn't be more helpful, always making sure you have the perfect holiday. It is quite remote and sometimes the phones play up but, to be honest, this is the appeal of this lovely cottage and setting.

Booked for 7 nights but left after 3!
On arrival we were looking forward to our stay as the exterior & location was lovely. Unfortunatly we were very disappointed when we entered the property as it was far from clean, looked & smelled like an old persons home. The last thing we expected was to have to clean the place since the cleaner had already been in.
The kitchen is a modern extension with very little workspace. The floor, sofa, table & chairs were covered in bits of food, crumbs, mud & grass and the sink & washing-up bowl were covered in scum.
The lounge & stairs also had mud & grass throughout and smelled of unwashed people. The suite is worn & very uncomfortable with cushions that need their covers washing & the stairs looked like they haven't seen a Hoover in months.
Both the toilets were mucky (pebble dashed in the pan & under the seat) despite having blue toilet cleaner in them. The bathroom sink was covered in grey hair (as was the mirror) and had a build up of dirt around the taps. The white shower curtain was orange at the bottom & desperately needed putting in the washer.
The back bedroom stunk! The bedding had not been washed even thought it was evident that it had been slept in & had a brown mark on the sheet.
The front bedroom needed a thorough clean from top to bottom. The pillows smelled of sweaty heads. One of the pillowcases had an orange stain on it & the quilt cover smelled like it had not been dried properly.
Everywhere in the cottage is a mish-mash of old & new & is in need of a full makeover!
The owner of the cottage was made aware of these issues & offered to pay for a meal out or a full refund if we decided to leave. In the end, I did feel like they did not believe us as we were told "It's a bit of a tricky one as the cleaner says it was spick & span when she left".
After 3 days, we could not stand it any longer & decided to go home.
