Joke of a booking!
We booked this property on low deposit through Sykes cottages,
We received this yesterday
?I am contacting you regarding the above booking.
We have been contacted by the Owner who has advised us due to ongoing concerns with Covid-19. They have needed to withdraw certain weeks from rental to allow a gap between bookings for deep cleaning.
The outcome of this is, I am very sorry to advise that we have had to cancel your booking.
I will arrange for you to receive a refund of the £20 Low deposit, which can take 5 ? 10 working days. . I cannot apologise enough for the frustration and inconvenience this will cause you.
Firstly if they think I am stupid enough to believe this property is getting a deep clean between bookings they really do insult my intelligence, I work in an sector that allows me to be well aware of the protocols for entering properties. No the likelihood hood is that they will leave it for 72 hours and then do a normal clean. This questions the commitment they really have to their customers. Then there is Sykes itself, although this is not the fault of the owner, they did not even justify this by looking for an alternative for us. Very disappointed with the who experience with Sykes and the owners of this cottage. Luckily I was sensible enough to withhold my payment until it was due.
We were looking forward to this holiday as everyone will appreciate, we have had 3 cancelled already due to the lockdown protocols. This is purely down to the laziness of the property owner to clean the property to turn around bookings. Other owners do not seem to have any issues with this. Maybe you should get some guidance from them.
Beautiful, spacious house in a fabulous location!
Kirkbank cottage is a beautiful cottage with so many extras! A cottage implies a small place, this house is large! The living room has an open roaring fire and the dining room has a small log burner. Everything we needed was provided, dog bowls, iron, internet, hairdryer, hoover, logs, coal and firelighters...... even chocolates on arrival!
We had a small problem on the Sunday night (we had locked ourselves out), the owners drove for over an hour late at night to help us and wouldn't take a penny for petrol. The lady who owns the house was in touch with us several times to see if we were ok regarding locking ourselves out - nothing was too much trouble for the owners.
One last thing - location is fabulous! Ten minute walk to the lake and ten minute walk to Windermere. Thank you so much x
Spent a great week at the beginning of February at Kirkbank cottage with family. Warm and cosy after day of walking. All 3 bedrooms are large, and lovely and warm at night. Cottage had everything you could need/want re facilities In kitchen. Some leaflets or literature on places to visit nearby would have been helpful though, also if I had to point out one thing it is that we were told coal/wood was provided for fire and wood burner, however there was barely enough for 1 night with the fire lit. And a list of places where we could purchase wood and coal from would have been helpful too. Overall a lovely cottage, a lovely welcome box of chocolates was a nice touch, recommend. Grizedale forest and Tarn Hows are nearby and are both lovely places to visit, as is Windermere, Bowness and Grasmere.
