Lovely cottage perfectly located for exploring the Lakes and nearby Cartmel We stopped at Bluebell cottage located in the quaint village of Cark in Cartmel for 5 relaxing nights. The cottage itself was very clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and equipped with everything you need for a hassle free holiday. A travel cot and high chair were also kindly supplied for our 6 month old baby which meant we could travel much lighter! The icing on the cake was the cold bottle of fizz left in the fridge for us by the owners, a great surprise after a long journey from Bath; the bottle didn?t last long!
We ate at the local pub, The Engine, which serves nice ?pub grub? including proper homemade chips (win!). However a must visit is the cheese shop in Cartmel where you can sample local produce and have a cheeky glass of wine for the cosy wine snug next door. We were graced with glorious weather on the bank holiday weekend so it was even better that we could enjoy this outside in the courtyard.
Cartmel is a leisurely 35/40 min walk from Bluebell cottage either by a very quiet single car road or through the woods, both of which were easy with the buggy.
There is a train station only a 5 min walk from the cottage which enabled us to have an enjoyable day exploring nearby Silverdale and Arnside. The most enjoyable however was the walk between Wray Castle and Claife Viewpoint along the lakeside path of Lake Windermere which was accessible by car in only 40 mins.
Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at Bluebell cottage and I?m sure it will not be long before we return. gaulttravels 2019-04-24
A perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful area on the edge of the lakes This cottage is perfect for a relaxing holiday. It is well equiped with everything you need to cook if you wish. The beds are comfortable and the outside area is great we visited February so not able to take advantage of this but if visiting in the summer would be a nice spot to sit and take the sun. The village of Cark is nice and friendly. The local pub the Engine especially so, the locals all willing to chat and the staff so helpful too. It is also pet friendly which is great. We will definately visit again and would thoroughly recomend this accomodation. Susan J 2019-02-12
Total tranquility.... Had a wonderful time Enjoyed staying at Bluebell cottage. It's tastefully decorated, feels like home, very clean and cosy. It has everything needed. Well equipped and very quiet location which we all wanted. Will definitely come back again. The Prosecco was a surprise compliment by the owner which was lovely and enjoyed it very much. Thank you Neil for everything.

Lovely cottage Beautiful property in a lovely location. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed and more. We took our little dog and the garden was perfectly safe for him. There are some nice walks nearby and other attractions in the Lake District 30 minutes plus away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to other couples or small families. MrsDonnaPowell 2018-07-30
THE BEST HOLIDAY COTTAGE WE HAVE STAYED IN The quiet location, beautifully appointed and looked after, with a private sun trap patio, has made Bluebell cottage the best we have stayed in.
The peace and quiet, comfy bed, together with the sea air, have given us some of the best nights sleep for a long while.
The car has felt a bit neglected. We have sat on the patio with a glass of wine, watching that many goldfinches that sit on the fence. We have enjoyed watching the parachutes from the local airfield (no it is not noisy).
It is an ideal base for walks around the Leven estuary and the Cartel Peninsula but also within easy reach of the more popular areas of the lakes by car,and nearby train and boat.
The property is in the most dog friendly area, (shops /Pubs/ local residents), we have been to. JOHNMOR1010 2018-05-25
