This beautifully converted barn rests on the outskirts of Elgin in Moray and can sleep two people in one bedroom.

Muiryhall is a fabulous barn conversion situated within the owner's grounds, on the fringes of Scotland's smallest city, Elgin. It boasts a king-size double bedroom (zip/link can be twins on request) with en-suite Jack-and-Jill shower room, sleeping two guests. The interior also has an open-plan living room with kitchen, dining area and sitting area.

To the outside is ample off-road parking, an enclosed, walled garden with flower beds, patio and hot tub, along with a picnic area with a barbecue across from property. Muiryhall offers a romantic getaway in a countryside setting.

A hidden gem
We originally booked this for the hot tub but were advised it had been removed shortly after booking. We are so glad we didn?t cancel because this has been one of the best places we?ve stayed in all the years we?ve been doing self catering. Immaculately clean, very well set up and the pictures of the garden do not do it justice. It looked like a small courtyard but is actually a large walled garden with raised beds full of flowers and fruit. Our dogs have had such a great time with all the space to play in. There are lots of hens and horses and the owners dogs and cat are awesome. Everyone is so friendly and we?ve had the best time here. The walk through the cross country course and into the woods is so close and absolutely lovely. The cottage is also close to huge beaches and woodland walks, not to mention distilleries. We saw dolphins from Burghead the first time we visited. Highly recommended.

To the previous reviewer, think yourself lucky hot tub was removed this is how dirty it was the first time I got out of it. Water obviously hadn?t been changed in months, absolutely disgusting. Sykes and owner did not want to know just called me a liar. Legally they have to change water after every visit and other places warn temperature may not be up to temp on first day as water changed but not this place. It was merit and smelly. Only reason we booked was for hot tub and it ruined our break not being able to go back in it.

Terrible experience and customer service
Once we booked and paid for our stay at muiryhall steading we were advised that the hot tub has been removed and replaced by a bbq. Unfortunately we have been unable to contact Sykes or the owner (no contact details available) as we now wish to cancel and receive a full refund am due to the terms of our booking changing. Terrible experience all in and still unsure if we will obtain a refund. Hot tub still showing on advertised photos!!!!
