Awful stay
The negative reviews started to appear after our booking on Sykes and trip advisor, so if anyone is going and has already booked I would advice you cancel. We have taken the matter up with the cottage letting people however still waiting for a response. Firstly when we arrived the place was dirty. The living room and kitchen floor area had not been mopped at all, neither had the bathroom I could smell urine around the toilet. The second bedroom ground floor, beds not made up, which they did rectify the next day when we eventually got hold of them, there was also long black hairs all over the bedding in that room, we had to vacuum that up. The main bedroom if you can call it that, has a very low ceiling, tiny window, very Dickensian, amazed its not been condemned, the bedding seemed clean however had a huge stain on the double quilt cover bottom left corner, it was clean but old, dated, stained. The oven was not working and judging by the cobwebs had not been working for a while, dial information on cooker had eroded, oven dirty and broken. Their was no ignite button for the hob had to use matches, and we noticed one of the pans was wobbly when it was on the cooker, the check list of health and safety issues in that place in this day and age was amazing, the kitchen tap produces scalding water, no signage about that, kettle leaks when you pour boiling water being the others. We also had to hoover between the cushion gaps of the leather sofa, dog hair, sand dirt and grime, when we first arrived. And has everyone has already stated dust and grime cob webs in every corner every velux window, place needs a deep clean. The cottage was empty of anything at all, no cleaning products, some disgusting used sponge sat by the sink which we flung out, so we had to go to the spar Nefyn to buy cleaning products we then spent the first few hours at the Barn cleaning the place, which included the floor by hand with jay-clothes as there was no mop. The other huge is issue was noise, noise from the owners next door, I have stayed in semi cottages before nextdoor to owners home;never have I spent a entire week ON HOLIDAY being woken up at 6 am every day, never have I ever stayed anywhere where the level of inconsideration to paying guests on holiday was like it was at the barn, I mean time to consider another career, maybe in demolation. We both work demanding jobs so to take a week out in this peaceful beautiful location should be reflected in the holiday accom. Not so the owners keep funny hours, instead of just clearing off for the week, they kept reappearing mostly very very early in the morning. The family were staying else where but came back every morning 6 am sharp, noise of cars arriving, pebbles on the court yard drive crunching, car doors slamming closed, boats being emptied out of cars; and of course our unsettled disturbed dog then barking and us all being woken up, then at 7:30 am it would all kick off again, for their kids school run, which included playing basket ball in the court yard outside of the bedroom window I am sleeping in at 8 am. Noise coming threw the joining wall also. The cottages sits on a huge plot but for some reason the owners gravitated towards the court yard which flanked the entire width of the tiny cottage we were renting, there was no getting away from them or their noise when we at the cottage. Our dog could not settle due to all the coming and goings, no routine no chance to get use to the noise, one point a van type car parking right up against the bedroom window, people leaving at 10 pm, people arriving at 6 am, and not just once or twice it was constant. It was also very very hot weather wise, were their during the heat wave I wanetd to come home on theTuesday, two days in and we spent all day trying to find better accommodation, failed so we stuck it out as long as we could, stayed out as long as it was possible to stay out came back and tried very hard to grab a few hours sleep before the next car noises. By Friday I could bare another night so came home a day earlier. There was no information on the cottage or about the ancient wifi box that was there that myseriously only turned itself on half way threw the one week duration, , no guest book, no complimentarty cake, no wine or anything else that we had received countless times in many cottages across North Wales, no scissors to cut open cartons of food, and the fridge the fridge was FAR TO SMALL. In all the place felt unloved and as guests on holiday we felt very unwelcome, would not recommend at all.

Mrs
Poor disappointed- this cottage had the potential to be great but it wasn?t. First morning I slipped in the bathroom as we were not provided with any towels or a bath mat. I injured myself which wasn?t a good start, an apology about the lack of towels but no interest if i was ok? The cottage was dirty, cobwebs inside the kitchen cupboards, mouse droppings in the frying pan . Towels arrived during our first day from the owners daughter who seemed very embarrassed. The towels were thin old and one was a welsh flag beach towel. There wasn?t a thing to clean or wash with no soap in the bathroom at all. We had to go to pwhelli to buy washing up liquid, handwash, a sponge to do the dishes, if we had had children with us it would have been even worse. I will not be returning or recommending this property to anyone especially if you had children. We told the owner when he returned from a trip about the concerns we had he blamed his daughter and a lady who supposedly cleaned for him. I said it was not worth the money we had paid he said it was bank holiday and he could warrant the price, he had two other cottages in the area. At the time Sykes only had one review on their website this property which was mediocre however one has come on today echoing my comments for a trip in March if we had seen it we definitely would have given it a miss, they still haven?t published mine be warned!!!
