Good break
We chose the Shire Hut for a break with our two dogs. Sadly Stella, our oldest dog, was diagnosed with a brain tumour just before we left home. The vets suggested we had her put to sleep there and then.
We decided to go away with just her
We found the Shire Hut at the end of a narrow lane. We were glad it was daylight!
We went therough the metal gate and the Shire Hut was the first of 4. There was parking for our car outside. The owners had left us tea and coffee and milk for the first night. I expect the pandemic has stopped the other goodies reported in other reviews.
We only saw a man who emptied the bin and delivered wood.
The Hut is as cosy inside as the photos and reviews suggest. Two suggestions: put a lid on the toilet as it is next to the towel rail. Take the rather large rocking chair out and have the 2 folding chairs instead.
We enjoyed the outdoor space enclosed for our dogs and sitting round the chiminea.
Sadly Stella's condition got worse. We took her to Prestatyn in a stroller and wandered down to the beach. There we got her out of the stroller and she was able to walk to the sea for the last time. She had a bad night and the next morning all the fight had gone. We made the sad trip to the vets in Prestatyn. They were wonderful and let us stay with Stella as she finally went to sleep on her 16th birthday.
My wife went home and brought our other dog back and we enjoyed the rest of the stay as the place is set in beautiful countryside and is very handy for driving to the many attractions in this part of Wales. We are glad Stella got to enjoy it.

A treat for your pooch and you
What a find! We have just returned from our Shepherd Hut 4 day break and it wasn't long enough ! Weather was brilliant and the North Wales scenery and sites is spectacular. So much to see and do if you are willing to travel but plenty of walks local to the hut.
The hut itself is compact but has everything you need for a comfortable stay and was spotlessly clean on arrival. The view from the door was just breathtaking. The best bit for me was the very secure garden for the dog. He had a whole large area to himself and it was lovely to open the hut door and let the dog out without worrying about safety . Needless to say the dog loved it. As darkness fell we lit a log burner and watched the sunset. ( logs and kindle supplied,). As a result of Covid the near by pub wasn't open to the general public which is a shame as was only mins walk away. - so come prepared with provisions and make bookings ahead for restaurants etc as many were fully booked because of the government eat out to help out scheme.
A brillant 4 days and we will be back !

Stunning
This is my fourth visit to this fabulous place. We had previously come with my dog bud sadly he passed away in February. As always the hut was immaculate. Full of every single thing you could possibly need or want plus wine ,fresh bread, jam, cake in fact Kath the owner thinks of every thing..One day when we were our we came back and Kath showed me to the paddock.on a tree she had put a gold plaque in remembrance of my dog Lennox..I can't believe that she did this for us I was totally shocked by how kind Kath is..This holiday was a total break from every day life..I can't put into words how much I enjoy staying here and I would recommend this amazing place to everyone (hopefully not everyone or else I won't be able to book again,) If you want a beautiful hut filled with luxuries. a beautiful setting and an absolute amazing owner who will do anything for anyone then I urge you to book either into this hut or the Clyde's dale which is next door.I have given Kath 5/5 and if I could award more stars then I would...we will be back again and again and again.. Absolutely bliss from start to finish ??????

A quirky little gem
From the moment we arrived it was going to be a little break we would never forget. Kath the owner met us and showed us round our little home for the next five days. I just couldn't believe my eyes, it was set with another Shire hut at the side of a farm where you could see goats playing, duck, geese and sheep. Inside the hut there was all you needed, a bathroom, a little kichen, a log burner and in the corner was a really comfortable bed, it was all so cosy, particularly when we returned from a day in Prestatyn or Llandudno to sit in front of the log burner, with our two little dogs. All this was enhanced by the little welcome gifts from Kath, she had thought of everything to make your holiday a bit special, there was wine, chocolate, eggs, bread, Welsh cakes and more. I could go on and on about the beautiful white towels, etc, etc. We loved it and look forward to a return visit

Perfect holiday place for pooches and the owners
So we were looking to find a place that would be pet friendly and have all the amenities that a human also requires and this place does all of that and more.
We were welcomed by the lovely Kath and shown around the shire hut. We had a lovely welcome card, welsh cakes and some prosecco and freshly laid eggs to greet us.
The hut was great and had everything we needed. It had a good sized kitchen, a wood burning stove and even a double bed.
Our dog loved it outside the hut as there was a massive field she could explore and sniff. I loved it as well as it was totally enclosed so we felt safe letting her explore and didn't have to worry she would be going onto a road or getting into trouble.
I'd recommend this to anyone who is struggling to find a place that is both dog and person friendly.
