Would not stay again.
We arrived at this lodge, it looked very nice, thought we had chosen well, we loved sitting outside, no noise was bliss, we cannot fault this, for this we give a 10/10. Now for the lodge itself, looks lovely, clean and modern, but there are things that need sorting out. When we arrived we had stopped off and bought pizza and garlic bread to have as this is quick and easy, after a 5 hour journey, I opened oven door and to my horror, the oven was filthy, fat and grease all over the inside of the door, the bottom was covered in something brown (like gravy), the racks were very greasy, I had no cleaning products apart from fairy washing up liquid that we had purchased, the last thing I wanted to do was clean a bl***y oven, but I did as best I could, but guess what, turned oven on, opened door and every time I opened the door the smoke alarm went off, this is the one and only time the oven was used in our stay, the people that left this oven filthy should be ashamed of themselves, this needs to be checked before a new guest arrives, another thing is checking and making sure crockery and cutlery are clean with no dried bits of food on them, we had to wash thing ups as they were dirty, not good, it needs a dishwasher, all this needs to be checked by whoever is responsible of this lodge. Pots and pans not good enough, to small and if you think about trying to cook a roast as we did, then don?t bother, no roasting tin or something to cook a joint of meat in, all that are supplied are 3 trays, 3 small saucepans and a frying pan, there are also no chopping boards or bread board, no bread bin either. Now for the bathroom, you cannot sit on the toilet normal as the toilet is far to close to the wall, the shower over the bath, is unsafe, you cannot move glass shower panel as it is to close to the sink and the bath handles, so makes it quite difficult to get in and out, also hard to reach taps if you want a bath, no grab handles on the wall to help you get out of the shower, it also needs a not slip mat in the bath as you have walk from the tap end to the head end to get out of the shower, I found it quite scary and did not feel safe at all, last bit about bathroom, is the hot tap in the sink was very loose and turned the opposite way, for some reason. Now the bedroom, the double bed was a cheap pine frame, with even cheaper mattress, you could feel the springs with you hands, it was covered with a very thin mattress protector, under the bed was a peanut and a smartie, there is no wardrobe, but there is a chest of drawers and 2 bedside cabinets, the blind should have been a blackout one, as the very early sun, shines straight through the window and onto your face/eyes so wakes you up, not nice when on holiday waking up so early in the morning. Other bedroom, only used to put our suitcases in, there is a single wardrobe, which housed the mop and bucket for some reason, also in this room was the ironing board and broom, there is no large cupboard in the kitchen to house these items. I forgot to mention that there is a washing machine, but no clothesline/horse or any pegs, so nowhere to hang wet washing. Dining room table had dried food on it, so again it had to be cleaned before it could be used, chairs also dirty, with dried food on them, place mats, some clean some dirty, one chair the back was loose, also end bit of table was very squeaky, so never used that end, so was not pleased. Living area, a lovely view from the sofa, which was fabric and had a bit of a smell to it, it was only a small 2 seater, no good if you are on the tall or large size, I lifted the cushions off and underneath was a large stain, bits of food, nuts, crumbs, hair, so had not been cleaned for sometime, made me feel yuk tbh, does the cleaner not check these things?, as for the bucket seat, I hate them with a passion, so why have it, was not comfortable at all, coffee table had tea/coffee/juice rings on it, surely there is a cleaner?. Tv was a good size though. This could be an excellent lodge but many simple things spoil it, you must have someone check that all is ok for the next visitors when they arrive. A decent bed and mattress to me is a must. Would we come back here to stay?, no we would not, even though we loved the area and the views.
