A nice quick break before Christmas BUT, why is there always a but?
Frome Lodge, Dorchester My wife and I stayed in this lodge/cottage for a break before the Christmas season. Our first impressions were quite positive. The main area is open plan with seating for four so the two of us could spread out a bit. The kitchen wasn?t big but did its job for a week. Quite well equipped it did us OK. A few things could make it perfect (for us) but we get by, No scissors? Modern packaging needs scissors when cooking. The living room area has freeview TV and a DVD player and a few DVD's but with all things I sometimes think that rental cottages are equipped by the owners older stuff the TV is dated and showing its age. Perhaps because I used to fix TV's I can see things most wont. The living area also has a dining table and chairs which had the welcome tea and coffee and a few nice biscuits, the fresh milk in the fridge helped too. The garden is large and has decking with furniture to enjoy yourself. A few features around the garden give it character. Please note the decking, when we visited hadn?t been cleaned and was slippery because of the rain. The bedrooms (two) have comfortable beds and the smaller of the two rooms has wardrobes and storage. In those wardrobes an airer is hidden to help dry clothes from the washing machine in the bathroom, also a tumble dryer is there if you need things dried in a hurry. The lodge is well decorated and welcomes our dogs which is really appreciated. The Lodge has free wifi now and not ?pay as you go? as suggested on the site we booked through. Whilst it is free, and beggars can?t be choosers it's a bit frustrating. It's not a wired wifi it's from EE and therefore is from the mobile network. However we found we would loose connection quite regularly and resetting the small device and computers its annoying. But I guess at least its there for us. So to the but and it could be a big BUT in the summer time. The Lodge is located very close to a busy road and the noise is a bit distracting and I can only guess what it?ll be like in the warm days of summer with the windows open. Personally I almost got used to it but the windows were mostly shut. My wife would say take and use earplugs!
