Superb setting, very comfortable accommodation. Peaceful surroundings and very comfortable accommodation so we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Our hosts were kindness itself and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the dogs, cats, pigs and chucks. The views from the ridge are glorious. The cottage worked well for two couples with a bathroom each. We followed advice from Jim and Annette and ate very well and had some lovely walks. The wood burner was the icing on the cake. Our ideal holiday cottage Just returned from a wonderful week at Lunnon Farm cottage. Cottage very well equipped, spotlessly clean and very welcoming. There are breathtaking views over the golden valley the scenery around the cottage is truly amazing. The owners who live next door were very friendly without being intrusive and could not do enough for us to make our stay so enjoyable. We will, most definitely, return. jeanettemoakes 2017-09-24
Byegone holiday What a wonderful house and unbelievable location that we could stayed forever. The house had everything you would need well equipped kitchen lovely beamed bedrooms with oak furniture. The location is so unspoilt with views from the top field that would be hard to better anywhere else. Put that with four pet pigs and two cats it's perfect smallholding setting. Gardens naturally planted and areas left for wildlife which we saw buzzards heard owls and foxes at night. Binnsie 2017-09-03
Lovely Views shame about the building work. Lunnon Farm is about 5 miles outside of Hereford in a place called Vowchurch Common. The farmhouse is split with connecting doors between the owners accommodation and the holiday let. Access to the farm is about a mile drive up a single lane road, which has two very steep sections (not for nervous drivers). The farm building itself was pretty and the view from the escarpment over the valleys was stunning. The plants in the patio area were overgrown.
Our main issues with the place was that we had not been told in advance by Sykes Cottages that major building work was going on in the owners side of the dwelling. Sykes later claimed they hadn't been told of the scale of work, nor that it was still going on by the owners. It was the first thing the owner told us upon arrival, too late for us to have cancelled. Over the weekend it was ok as the builders weren't working.
Although the owner kept apologising about the noise and dust there was never any suggestion of stopping the work.
The owner's side of the house didn't have water or electricity. We found the owner using our facilities when we returned from an excursion on the Sunday. Although they stated they had knocked to ask we found this intrusive but felt we couldn't say anything. It however re-occurred several times over the week, each time no prior request to use facilities, we found this arrogant and irritating. However in order not to create a bad aura we tolerated it.
On leaving the owner did offer a free week next year, but for us the place and our memories of it have been permanently spoilt. We go on holiday for a stress free time, this certainly wasn't it.
It is possible the building work is still be going on, and we wish to pre-warn other holiday makers that may have booked the cottage to check before they go. MyExperiences 2017-08-05
