Week away
Disappointed in how ill equipped the flat was for a family. For example 4 us went to this 3 bedroom flat yet only 2 rooms were made up. As our teenagers did not want to share we had to strip one bed to make the other. There were no spare blankets or bedding and a couple of days of the week were cold & we couldn?t figure out the heating. The room not made up also had dog hairs on the bed. There was no airer & only a couple of radiator airers so difficult to hang damp towels or get a load of washing dry. Also no wardrobes & only 2 rooms had 4 hangers in each with limited hanging space & as we had travelled a long way for a wedding this made it a bit difficult as there was also no full size ironing board, only a table top one which is awkward ironing a dress on! As a family we hoped to eat in a couple of days however there was only a very small freezer which was iced up. The pans were cheap & everything you cooked in them stuck to them & the oven whilst worked again is not great. There were also minimal utensils which resulted in us buying some! This flat was large & gave us lots of space however the floors were springy & in the entrance felt unsafe. There was no WiFi all week & despite emailing Sykes & having the owner knock unannounced at 10am on Sunday morning to say she would sort it and message me but never did. We were advised that it was newly fitted on our day of arrival & it was a problem with the provider. Both our children are pre-exam and ended up running out of data in order to do some study & leading is to purchase more. The TV also has very poor signal which means you can?t actually watch anything as it loses sound and picture frequently. There were no board games or DVD's or even a pack of cards that we?ve had in nearly all holiday rentals so we ended up buying some. Sykes advertises towels but further description reports none which is unusual but fine. What was not clear is that there was also no hand towels or a bath mat. Thankfully we took a hand towel but ended up using this as a bath mat and used our own towels for hands but we?d have to walk trough the flat with wet hands as there was insufficient space in the bathroom to hang towels. The bathroom also has no lock and the fans didn?t work in the bathroom meaning became very damp after 4 showers. All descriptions also advertise a dishwasher- the dishwasher is you! The location was good & we managed to park most days in the bays that were longer than an hour but did have to do a bit of car shuffling. You do also get a sea view on a clear day. The bin situation was odd as no bins for recycling & asked to leave the bag at end of lane on Thursday night which we did. Overall we had a good week. The flat was okay but needs a bit of TLC and few bits & bobs to make it more comfortable for example spare blankets, hanging space, towel hooks in the bathroom, an airer & better pans & some utensils, WiFi, improved signal strength on tv or a radio instead. These things don't cost a lot & do make a difference. I note the building is up for sale though so Perhaps things not replaced.
