A nicely furnished house, but very small
The house itself is okay, well equipped, reasonably clean (the carpets were dusty and the kitchen floor was not clean), but it is extremely small, there were three of us/adults and it was impossible to sit at the kitchen table together unless we all remained seated, the kitchen door is a pain and when it is open you cannot get to the fridge and to get to the fridge the door has to be closed and one of the kitchen chairs has to be moved which worried me as the kitchen door has glass panes in it and I was so worried the glass was going to bang on the chair as we squeezed passed to get to the fridge. The downstairs cloakroom that is advertised is a very tiny room with a toilet and basin leading off from the kitchen and to get to that you have to move the dining room chair and navigate the kitchen door.
The mattresses were very very comfortable, but the beds have metal frames that need tightening or oiling, they creaked every time we moved. One of the very small double beds is up against the wall so with two people in it, one would have to get out via the bottom of the bed, the other very small double bed only has a few inches either side to move, I got up in the night to go to the bathroom and smashed my shin on the metal leg.
The outside communal area is a public walkway to the pub a few doors down, we never heard any noise from the pub at all and this was not an issue.
There is a smart tv, but it kept saying 'no signal' and the sky box didn't have a card so we only had the basic channels, which is fine if that is your thing.
It is a very nicely furnished house and if you are a couple, or a couple with a small child it would be big enough and Flamborough and surrounding areas are very beautiful and peaceful. We would return to Flamborough/Bridlington area again.
A Little Treat
Harry's Cottage is centrally located in Flamborough, ideal for exploring the cliffs and caves around the head and RSPB Bempton. The cottage although quite small is very cosy, clean and well equipped. Living room has a very comfortable new corner sofa unit. There is a good TV with sky box. Bedrooms clean, tidy with good bed linen. The cottage also has good broadband with wifi and is ideal for smaller families. I would stay here again. Plenty of amenities in surrounding area and only 10 mins from Bridlington.
I stayed here for a weekend with my husband.
Perfect place to get away we absolutely love Flamborough and the sea side.
Very tidy cottage and loads off bedrooms.
We wasn?t able to get away this year to Spain and this get away was awesome.
Loads off beaches and plenty off stuff to do along the sea side.
The cottage was warm and cosy and very clean.
We will definitely stay here again
Lovely place to stay
Loved this cottage stayed with the wife and 2 kids for a long weekend, We would stay again in a heartbeat, perfect size for a family of 4 but would sleep 5, a 2nd downstairs toilet comes in handy with kids! centrally located for pubs and shops also a nice chip shop round the corner, There are lovely walks around the area, We will definitely be back when staying in the area.
Great village to be based in, but house too small for 5.
Five of us stayed at Harry's Cottage for 4 nights in August. Flamborough is a brilliant base as you can walk to four beautiful beaches from the village. There is a Co-op round the corner from the house and quite a few little specialist shops (butcher, chemist etc). The cottage itself is comfortable, but better suited to fewer people. We would definitely choose to stay here again, but not with 5 people in this particular house as it's just too small. ??Our group consisted of me, my mother and my 3 children. The house has 2 double beds and one 'single? bed, which for logistical reasons my mother had. It was actually a child-sized bed - she is 5?2? and could barely lie flat in it. She was also not keen on having the vacuum cleaner behind her bedroom door, though there is nowhere else in the house to put it. That the bed is not an adult-sized single should be, but wasn?t, mentioned in the property listing. ??What is mentioned in the listing is a garden/patio, described later as a ?communal outdoor area?, which turned out to be the ten-foot at the back of the house, used as a passageway by all the cottages in the row. ??There is a washing machine, which is helpful, but nowhere at all to dry anything you wash (no washing line or an airer), which is not. With beaches and children, somewhere to dry wet things is quite important.
Parking is fine, just round the corner from the house.
In short, Flamborough itself is lovely, but this cottage is very small. Some information in the house - usually found in a folder - relating to practicalities (when bin day is, where the best local shops/restaurants/beaches are etc etc) would be helpful too.
