Nice cottage but needs a bit of tlc
We've recently returned from Benjamins Cottage and had a great time. The cottage is very spacious and cosy with some nice touches although some tlc is needed. Plus points would be, good sized bedrooms with comfy beds and quality bedding, nice bathroom with plenty of fluffy towels, large smart TV with access to Netflix and Amazon, heating easy to turn on/off as required, plenty of supplies and a welcome pack which was a lovely touch. On the down side, parking space is an issue, thankfully I've got front and back sensors and a reversing camera on my car otherwise I'd have had no chance to get into the space allocated. My wife commented that she would have had to make use of the public car park up the road. The back yard is a bit of a mess with rusty table and chairs, could do with being screened off from next door which would also hide their large oil tank. Cleanliness was not as expected. Although we fully appreciate it's dog friendly, we do not expect to find so many dog hairs on arrival. Some other areas have certainly not been deep cleaned for some time although other areas were spotless. Several of the doors are catching badly on the floors which gets very annoying after a few days as does the bouncy laminate flooring. Needs a light in the under stairs storage area and at least a double socket in the front bedroom as currently only one single socket, so it meant having to plug and unplug bedside lamp and charges constantly. Also needs a blind in this bedroom as low window directly onto the road. We would not come to this cottage again although this is mainly due to the immediate location and parking issue. With a bit of tlc and perhaps a local handyman for a day or two it could be much improved. Staithes is a lovely village, fantastic chippy opposite, couple of very nice pubs, and we shall be returning in the future

Simply Fabulous
We stayed for three nights in this fabulous cottage. Great facilities and very well equipped. Feels like a real home from home with lots of little touches like the welcome basket of wine , biscuits and chocolate! It's a good base for visiting this part of North Yorkshire .. we enjoyed a couple of days out to Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay as well as spending time in Staithes itself. Would definitely revisit and certainly recommend as a lovely place to stay.

Amazing break for all the family!
What a beautiful place Staithes is and what a fantastic base to enjoy it from! Benjamin's Cottage was perfect for our family of four (two children 3 and 4) and no detail had been overlooked - they had thought of everything, including a baby gate for the stairs which I would have never expected from a holiday cottage. The cottage is beautifully decorated throughout and had everything we needed for a stress free break away including all towels, bed linen, crockery, dishcloths, tea towels, tea, coffee, games etc. Everything was spotlessly clean - my four year old even shouted as we walked in "it is so clean mummy" - perhaps doesn't say a lot for my house! Mel (the owner) provided extensive information before we arrived on how to find the cottage, where to park, how to access the keys etc, Inside the cottage was lots of information on the local area and an excellent guide on to what to do! We took the advice and visited the fish and chip shop (literally just opposite), the Cod and Lobster and enjoyed both Staithes and Sandsends beaches. If you are looking for a relaxing family break away in beautiful surroundings then Benjamin's Cottage is perfect - we can't wait to go back!

Mixed feelings
Very comfortable and well equipped and great welcome pack and Netflix on TV. Also a very good base to explore. but less than a week to go you get the key code and in this e mail you're told not to let your dog poo in the dog friendly enclosed garden as it can smell even when picking up this upset us a little as we would not of booked it had this been in the info at the start it should be. The only other problem was not that well cleaned in kitchen dog hairs and washing machine full of black goo and hair I cleaned it out so we could use it and cleaned the sticky mess off the tea and coffee jars on the first day we did have a great time but was a little bit surprised by this as all the other reviews were so good

Lovely, cosy and modern. Will definitely be back!
Booked this cottage to stay with my fianc? for his birthday and we had the most lovely week! We've stayed in staithes before although we usually stay at the bottom end but this time we decided to go at the top of the hill. The cottage is so well presented and cosy and the smell of fish and chips from over the road is immense. We also thought that having the Netflix accounts etc on the telly was a nice touch for the night times. The welcome basket was such a surprise and so well presented, and it made it feel homely from the second we walked in. There's plenty to do especially if you have a car as we went to Scarborough and Whitby. Thank you for letting us stay here, we were gutted to leave but will definitely be back again soon.
