Amazing break for all the family!
What a beautiful place Staithes is and what a fantastic base to enjoy it from!
Benjamin's Cottage was perfect for our family of four (two children 3 and 4) and no detail had been overlooked - they had thought of everything, including a baby gate for the stairs which I would have never expected from a holiday cottage.
The cottage is beautifully decorated throughout and had everything we needed for a stress free break away including all towels, bed linen, crockery, dishcloths, tea towels, tea, coffee, games etc. Everything was spotlessly clean - my four year old even shouted as we walked in "it is so clean mummy" - perhaps doesn't say a lot for my house!
Mel (the owner) provided extensive information before we arrived on how to find the cottage, where to park, how to access the keys etc, Inside the cottage was lots of information on the local area and an excellent guide on to what to do! We took the advice and visited the fish and chip shop (literally just opposite), the Cod and Lobster and enjoyed both Staithes and Sandsends beaches.
If you are looking for a relaxing family break away in beautiful surroundings then Benjamin's Cottage is perfect - we can't wait to go back!
Very comfortable and well equipped and great welcome pack and Netflix on TV. Also a very good base to explore. but less than a week to go you get the key code and in this e mail you're told not to let your dog poo in the dog friendly enclosed garden as it can smell even when picking up this upset us a little as we would not of booked it had this been in the info at the start it should be. The only other problem was not that well cleaned in kitchen dog hairs and washing machine full of black goo and hair I cleaned it out so we could use it and cleaned the sticky mess off the tea and coffee jars on the first day we did have a great time but was a little bit surprised by this as all the other reviews were so good
Lovely, cosy and modern. Will definitely be back!
Booked this cottage to stay with my fianc? for his birthday and we had the most lovely week! We've stayed in staithes before although we usually stay at the bottom end but this time we decided to go at the top of the hill. The cottage is so well presented and cosy and the smell of fish and chips from over the road is immense. We also thought that having the Netflix accounts etc on the telly was a nice touch for the night times. The welcome basket was such a surprise and so well presented, and it made it feel homely from the second we walked in. There's plenty to do especially if you have a car as we went to Scarborough and Whitby.
Thank you for letting us stay here, we were gutted to leave but will definitely be back again soon.
Will definitely be staying again!
Enjoyed a lovely bank holiday weekend in Benjamin's Cottage. Located just a 5 minute walk from Staithes harbour meant we were able to enjoy delicious food and drink in the local pubs, including the Cod & Lobster. Situated on the Cleveland Way, we experienced a wonderful walk along the cliff tops to Runswick Bay.
The cottage itself had all the amenities we needed and more. It was always lovely and cosy thanks to the Hive Heating system. I personally loved the decor which made it feel like a home away from home, particularly the log burner, which roared comfortingly as we enjoyed a family game of scrabble one of the nights.
I would recommend Benjamin's Cottage to anyone and will certainly be looking to book when we next visit Staithes.
home from home, and even better
so we booked Benjamin's cottage for a weekend, with my two boys, one 2 years and the other 7 weeks! with the husband and mother in law.
on arrival the cottage presented warm and welcoming with he heating and lamps on. we were quick to see the beautiful hamper filled with yummmy surprises which was totally unexpected and such a delight.
the cottage is really home from home in fact better, the cottage was very clean and well maintained and had such a homely feel to it.
the bedrooms are a great size, with lots of space for travel cot (provided). and Moses a basket, and all presented very relaxing.
staiths is a beautiful place to visit, and we enjoyed many little walks around the harbour, and a beautiful meal at the cod and lobster. to then return to the cottage and chill with an excellent choice of t.v. programmes with access to both Amazon and Netflixs, which is great when your in early with little ones.
the garden is small/court yard style and is enclosed and is safe which is great for the pooch and my little one to play in, with a table and chairs to enjoy a cuppa.
it's clear to see the owner Mel has thought of everything to make your stay perfect and so relaxing, from the outside space, to an easy to use cooker and oven, beautiful toiletries in a fabulous bathroom, information about the local area, hair dryer, Wi-Fi, and tv Amazon/netflix, and beautiful and comfortable furniture and beds
there is nothing I could say to add to make it better, we all loved our stay and will certainly be going back. truly a cottage that is cared for and managed so well.10/10.
