Lovel cottage shame about the flies
This is a large cottage and very expensive in August. It has comfortable beds and living accommodation. Unfortunately it is let down by the little 'extras' normal for such a cottage and the horrendus fly problem. No books, games were all broken or had bits missing. kitchen equipment was minimal, old and in some cases broken and little in the way of cleaning products was supplied (3 dishwasher tablets!, 1 black plastic bag). But the biggest problem was the flies. Fly killer on top of cupboards did not work and we were reduced to swatting them with a newspaper. Had to wipe all surfaces before cooking or eating and still they settled on the table as we sat there! Sykes cottages have rejected any responsibility for this and referred me to the owner. The process of complaining to Sykes was difficult and unfriendly. They have offered me a £50 voucher, but I don't think I will ever book through them again. We loved the area and the goats but really don't think the cottage is worth the cost.
