Very Noisy at Weekends and Very Poor Customer Care
I work in retail and I am well aware that customer satisfaction and customer care is the most important part of any business. When I had a complaint at Beachside Gallery I was utterly stunned at the lack of concern from either Sykes Cottages and particularly the owner of this apartment. They don't seem to have any idea that keeping customers happy is the biggest part of any business. The main problem is the excessive noise overnight at the weekends. On the Friday night there was loud music with a heavy beat and shouting from the local clubs which went on until 4am. Then there were loud voices and then smashing of load after load of bottles into a skip in the street below until about 5am. It was impossible to sleep. I couldn?t face staying there again on the Saturday night and going through it all again so I decided to leave. I lost half a week that I had paid for because I couldn?t face another sleepless night. I asked Sykes Cottages if I might be moved somewhere else and was told this could only happen if I paid full price for new accommodation. I decided to go home. Sykes Cottages policy is to abdicate all responsibility for this and any compensation is at the discretion of the owner. The owner of Beachside Gallery simply refused to help in any way. Apparently she is also bothered by the noise when she stays there herself . This was the reply ?I am very sorry, we have spoken to the owner who has advised that she is not inclined to offer a refund. She has advised that she has done what she can in relation to noise cancellation in the bedrooms and has said she had installed a secondary glazing to reduce noise from the bars. She has advised she too is quite sensitive to noise so she had made an extra effort to reduce the effects of noise as she stays in the property herself from time to time?. I pointed out that the secondary glazing insert over a sash window is not effective in noise reduction and it is clearly inadequate. City hotels have industry standard double glazing to combat noise pollution. Sleepless nights shouldn?t be something that visitors simply have to suffer. Since there is a recognised problem with the noise at Beachside Gallery, why is Sykes Cottages advertising this place as a Dream Cottage? After giving the owner opportunity to change her mind, and after pointing out several times that a negative review could be bad for business I was simply dismissed. ?We have approached the owner again and unfortunately she is not willing to change her stance. I appreciate you are able to leave a transparent and honest review and the owner is aware of this. As I had mentioned to you, the contract is between you and the owner and we mediate complaints. As we have been unsuccessful, should you wish to take it further this will need to be done without our intervention. I am very sorry I have not been able to provide you with the resolution you were looking for?. I would stay here if you like partying, or go in the week and dont expect 2019 standards of customer care from Sykes Cottages or this owner.
