We supplied Syles with all photographic evidence of the issues mentioned. The phrase, ?All fur coat and no knickers? are perfect for Common End Farmhouse. It looks beautiful on first impressions, but when you start to look, you see the cracks! Having paid over £1700 for a 7-night stay, we found the place absolutely filthy, from the crockery, cutlery (with food stuff still stuck to them), the glasses and even 2 sets of table mats! We had to put the cutlery, glasses and crockery in the dishwasher before we even unpacked! Then as we started to look around the kitchen and the rest of the house, we found that the standard of cleanliness was excessively low, so much that I messaged the caretaker Paul Kinch and his response (see photos) was that ?he?d spoken with the cleaners and they?d assured him that Common End Farmhouse had been fully cleaned?. He needs to fire them and hire cleaners who actually what they should! It was do back, we decided to go to the local supermarket to buy cleaning products and anti-bacterial wipes. This was like a living petri dish! Most of the kitchen cupboards had dirty marks on them, with some questionable marks in the cutlery draw. The sink hadn?t been cleaned, as there was a thick black substance between the sink and the work surface, we used bleach to clean it! The desk with the computer on, had several coffee stains on the left-hand side and certainly hadn?t been cleaned. Faulty electrical items - used the kettle and burned my thumb, as steam came through the on/off button! This had no PAT test certificate on it either! I telephoned the caretaker Kinch to ask if there was an information pack for the property and was told that the last guests had taken with them! He made no effort of providing any information on how to use the oven, dishwasher, hot tub or BBQ. The only document left was a discussing coffee-stained piece of paper with the WIFI code on. On the first night we arrived to find the hot tub too cold to use the first night, no towels for the hot tub and no where to wash and dry the house towels if used for the hot tub, again we had to go out and buy towels for the hot tub for 5 of us! The sofa and chairs downstairs had stains on them, as if someone had had an accident on them and left uncleaned! The level of cleaning was dreadful, the Weber BBQ hadn?t been cleaned since the last use with food burned to the grill, the silver built in BBQ had had the grill removed so you could not use it ? what a waste of space! The BBQ cleaning brush was disgusting with excess animal fat build up on it. A large beam in the lounge area had 2 large run stains on them, easy to resolve as we have previously done a barn conversion with beams! The ceiling in the lounge had water damage and one of the downlighters was hanging down. Another example of poor maintenance. The ensuite bedroom overlooking the large side garden had stained carpets, then the bathroom?well again it was disgusting! The window frames hadn?t been cleaned in months and as you can see when I wiped the frame with an anti-bacterial wipe the difference between clean and filthy! Then to the adult dirty left-hand mark on the wall to the left of the toilet, with another (right hand) smudge to the right of the toilet ? disgusting! The alarm went off in the annex across the courtyard that we didn?t have access too at nearly midnight, we phoned and text the caretakers no response. The alarm finally went off at 2am! Stephanie Willmer (another caretaker) texted at 8:45 the following morning stating she?d passed and everything looked ok....How's that for poor customer service! Then we had a delivery for caretaker Kinch and the gardener came to cut the grass, who made my wife feel very uncomfortable. We discovered he's finished cutting the grass when we let our dog out to find that the gardener had left the gate propped open and hadn?t returned to close it. This led to the adjacent farmers field with crops in it, if we hadn?t spotted this, we could have lost our dog!!!!! We contacted Sykes Cottages who we booked with and we gave them a week to investigate our complaints, 10 days have gone by and no response. BUYERS BE WARE! Do NOT hire this place as you will encounter the same issues we have, looking back on previous reviews cleanliness is an issue, we SHOULD have learned from that! However, having to spend several hours cleaning a holiday property on ARRIVAL is unacceptable especially when you've spent in excess of £1700! To be honest, you would be better saving your money and going camping! AVOID COMMON END FARMHOUSE AT ALL COSTS.
