Noisy. Dangerous electrics. Dirty towels. Not clean. No beach nearby.
The noise from the pub downstairs was a constant thudthudthud until Thursday night quiz night when it was really loud. The switch for the hot water boiler is not adequate for the power going through it, and has gone brown, is hot and is cracked. It is a fire risk. We turned it off at night and when out, and tried to move to a safer place to stay. The owner was informed and called a plumber out to fix an electrical fault (?!). It wasn't fixed. The towels smelled of dog and were stained. They didn't come clean when washed. Only small towels are provided. The people staying in the smaller 2 bedrooms were bitten by something in the night. The smallest bedroom only has a skylight window that you can't see through. It was half decorated but clean. The hallway was also partly decorated. The next smallest bedroom was dusty with cobwebs and had not been cleaned. The larger bedroom was ok. The hot water was intermittent when we stayed...it is shared with the pub potwash. There are many steps, all different heights. The stairs up to the flat are narrow and steep. There are shallow steps in the hallway. There are steep steps down to the two smaller bedrooms and the bathroom. The kitchen has basic equipment but is large and has all you need. There is a dishwasher and washing machine and cleaning tablets are provided. There is a good sized dining room with TV, and the lounge is nice, with games. There is no DVD player. The feeling I got from the owners, when complaining about cleanliness and the electrics, is that they had no clue about what they were doing. Sykes cottages, who we booked through, did not reply to my complaint about electrical safety. The village of skipsea is nice, but the beach access has fallen into the sea and is dangerous and inaccessible. I recommend finding somewhere else to stay. Like hornsea. We stayed from 21 June 21 to 25 June 21.
