Beautifully located cottage in Penmon , with views over the Menai Strait and the Priory. A short drive to the bustling town of Beaumaris. Wifi, TV and woodburning stove.

A fabulous holiday cottage located in a unique coastal location overlooking Penmon Priory in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with outstanding views over the Menai Strait and magnificent Snowdonia, you'll be hard-pushed to find better views or a more idyllic location than this! This once ruined historic former Quarrymans Barracks has been lovingly restored and it is so delightful to see that the renovation includes the rebuilding of the lovely bell tower using the original stone from the local quarry. The high-quality limestone from the quarries at Penmon Point supplied the stone to build many local buildings, including the iconic Menai Suspension Bridge. The renovation with all the modern comforts makes this an excellent holiday cottage to stay in.

With a modern kitchen that you can watch the sunrise over the mountains in the morning, there is ample dining space in the same room for the evening time. The sitting room with three large sofas around a wood burning stove, it's the perfect place to kick back and relax after a day out. There is also a second dining table in the sitting room.

There is a small snug at the end of the house with a TV to hide away after a long meal in the kitchen. On the ground floor there is a cloakroom with loo & wash basin. Upstairs are four bedrooms all together.

The first is a double room with king size bed and ensuite. The ensuite to the double room has a shower, loo and wash hand basin. There is also a further double bedroom and a twin bedroom.

Lastly, there's a twin room with an ensuite which has a shower loo and wash hand basin. The family bathroom has a bath with shower over, loo and wash basin. Outside is a generous garden which is mainly lawn with ample parking for 6+ cars.

There is short rough track to drive to the cottage. A beautiful walk practically from the front door along the Anglesey Coastal Footpath takes you past the Priory up to Blackrock Point, famous for Penmon lighthouse and Puffin Island. There is also a lovely pebble beach and a small, friendly cafe serving drinks and snacks and, of course, ice cream! Plenty of rock pooling, sea life, bird watching and fishing opportunities too.

Nearby Beaumaris is just a short drive away, and has a wide selection of shops, bars, restaurants, galleries and interesting individual shops (no Costas or McDonalds here!) in addition to the splendid moated castle.

Perfect holiday cottage for peace and solitude
Barracks Cottage is set in a very peaceful area. The cottage is in a beautiful but very remote location so it's best to do a large shop at Bangor Tesco or Marks & Spencers. There's a small Waitrose at Beaumaris too. The nearby lighthouse and beach are well worth a visit with a ?3 charge for the toll road and parking. Nice quaint cafe by the lighthouse, serving delicious cream teas amongst other things. Barracks Cottage has been renovated to a very high standard; very spacious and the views over the Menai are to die for. The main gate and driveway up to the cottage could do with a bit of attention as it's quite steep and difficult to navigate.
