The Dog in a Doublet has everything you could want whether it's for a overnight stay or a long weekend away ... some home made crisps and a pint of homemade cyder by the open fire or a bottle of English wine together with a meal in front of the open plan kitchen ... a 16th century room in the old building or a camping stay in the farm grounds ...
the Dog in a Doublet has it all.
We're a gastro pub serving top quality fresh and local British food. But we're more than that - we've got a deli a bed & breakfast camping and even our own little farm right outside. Perfect for any occasion from a family gathering (kids are more than welcome!) to an intimate evening it can all be found at the The Dog In A Doublet.
In the middle of the fens, Dog in a Doublet is an historic 16th century landmark building on the river Nene next to one of the biggest lock gates in Europe. Lovingly restored from being closed for 4 years it is now foodie heaven. The interior has a shabby chic feel keeping to its grand pub history.
The restaurant has a farmhouse feel with a large open kitchen where you can see the chefs plating their wonderful creations. The food described as british pub food of exceptional standard would not be out of place in the finest of restaurants. Service is polite but informal in keeping with the pub atmosphere.
British classics sit alongside some of our chefs more unique spins. Much of our meat is reared in the farm however there is also great consideration given to vegetarians and vegans a homage to the fact that much of the produce used comes from our own gardens or surrounding farms. All rooms have balconies on which you can enjoy the stunning landscapes.
They are decorated in a luxurious boutique style and some even have vaulted ceilings with all the original beamwork exposed. In the summer you can eat on the riverbank or even in the little orchard with the petting zoos ducks chickens pygmy goats rabbits pigs and ponies. Fishing lakes are abundant in the area.
?A warm and friendly welcome awaits you in our riverside home. John and Della
