The Bay Horse is situated in the Lake District's only coastal village Ravenglass. It is a listed 18th Century former Coaching Inn which was once used by passing travellers waiting for the tide to recede before continuing on their journey over the river Esk ford. This is a B&B with history lovingly restored and taken into the 21st century with modern facilities.
Our home has been lovingly and tastefully renovated which we enjoy sharing with our guests. We combined the retention of original features including oak lintels doors panelling oak beams and fireplaces with modern facilities. If you like old properties you will love our home.
The Bay Horse and the village of Ravenglass was once the haunt of smugglers and rumours say that there is an underground tunnel connecting our home to the Ship Inn (another former Inn across the road). This would have been used by the smugglers to move contraband from Inn to Inn so hiding from the customs men. We have a guest lounge with use of maps local information books and a TV with DVD.
We offer secure storage for cycles packed lunches on requests and drying facilities. We are ideal for tourists business and regular visitors to the area.
