Accommodation Description:

Dave warmly welcomes you to his award winning Grade II listed Purbeck stone cottage - a charming friendly and intimate Bed and Breakfast in the beautiful county of Dorset.

This is the Bed & Breakfast in Swanage that you have been looking for quietly tucked away from busy through traffic yet within a couple of minutes level walk to the town centre and steam railway. The beautiful sheltered sandy beach is also just a few hundred metres level stroll away and the stunning coastal path is just a short walk away. Open all year with unrestricted access to your room we encourage guests to treat Easter Cottage as a home-from-home.

With full central heating and a roaring log fire in the guest lounge Easter Cottage also makes an ideal retreat for your autumn or winter break. Indulge in our award winning breakfasts cooked to order from the extensive menu and relax in the friendly hospitality of your hosts. We look forward to seeing you soon! Eldon Terrace was originally built in the early 1890's by Lord Eldon as accommodation for his workers at the railway.

The railway was operated by the London & South Western Railway Company and was used for conveying visitors to the seaside and also for the transport of Purbeck stone via a stone yard at Swanage and ball clay via sidings at Furzebrook and Eldon. Easter Cottage being the end cottage and therefore slightly larger was allocated to Lord Eldon's Steward and remained as a part of the family estate until 1926 when it was sold by his Trustees for the princely sum of £300. Now forming part of the Northern boundary of Swanage's Conservation area Eldon Terrace has received a Grade II listing as ?A fine example of late Victorian estate housing".

We purchased Easter Cottage in 1990 and opened our doors as a Bed & Breakfast in the spring of 1991.
